quiet bar near Faneuil Hall

Too late to be useful to you, but I've been to the Last Hurrah several times. It's definitely nothing fancy, but it's always been relatively quiet.

Breakfast near XV Beacon please?

I was thinking of Hungry Traveler or Capitol Coffeehouse. Though the breakfast sandwiches are Mike and Patty's fancy, they definitely deliver.

Central Bistro isn't too far off - that could be a good option. They have a happy hour (food) menu too.

How are these restaurants?

Great ones! I'm a huge fan of Shojo and Giulia has been on my list for ages. I haven't been particularly impressed by Trade or Night Market - I'd keep them off my list if I were you. I think Myers and Chang is a better version of Night Market if you're looking for Asian fusion type, though Shojo also fits in that category and is delicious. You could check out Oleana - about a 15 minute walk from Central Square (red line T) and same owner as Sarma.

Waterfront table for 3 on a Friday evening in July?

I knew I was missing one - Sam's is a great idea. Also Daily Catch could be good but I've never eaten there.

Waterfront table for 3 on a Friday evening in July?

I've never tried specifically for a water view table when making a reservation, but options include Aragosta, Joe's American in the North End, Dante in Cambridge... Whiskey Priest and Atlantic Beer Garden are right on the water though their food isn't great. Maybe Jerry Remy's or 75 on the Waterfront? Many places may not let you reserve a specifically outdoor table but it's worth a call.

Breakfast near XV Beacon please?

Are you looking for table service, etc.? A lot of your options in that area are also hotels like Beacon Hill Hotel (noted below) and the Omni Parker House. While it's nothing fancy, I do enjoy breakfast at Capitol Coffee.

Another food crawl planning help request

Inman! I've done it - start at Oleana, line up a few minutes before they open and do a mezze or two at the bar, then scoot along. We also did East Coast Grill and Christina's but you could add Tupelo or any of the other great options out there too.

Two nights near Faneuil Hall?

Try Neptune Oyster - in the North End but known for its seafood

Boston & West with Handicapped-Available Parking

I immediately thought of places like the Chestnut Hill Mall with their parking lots and handicapped spots. I liked the food at Seasons 52 last time I was there.

Lacroix Passionfruit?

Thanks everyone! I got to the Watertown Target yesterday and got passionfruit, apricot, and cherry lime. Next trip I'll have to look for the pineapple strawberry.

Boston dinner question

They go by Craigie on Main now - but definitely worth checking out!

Viale or Oleana - at which one can we hear each other better?

I found Viale to be a little loud, actually. I'd recommend Oleana.

Boston dinner question

From the BCEC you can do a very short walk to the silver line which can bring you to South Station (red) and then transfer to orange, green - so really the world is your oyster depending on how much time you want to spend to get where you're going.

In the Fort Point/Seaport area, I'll offer Tavern Road and Pastoral as well as Blue Dragon and Babbo. All are within 15 minutes walking of BCEC if that's a priority for you (Babby might be more like 20).

Slightly further afield but still walking distance (~30 min) - Neptune Oyster, Shojo

Any decent brunch places reasonably close to Faneuil Hall?

It's a bit of a brunch wasteland over there. I haven't been to Scholars or Merchant for brunch but they both serve it a short walk from Faneuil.

I haven't heard much about Saltbox Farm yet, but that's one to have on your radar too.

3 weeks in Boston after 2 years absence

Mei Mei is pretty casual but so delicious. It might technically be in Boston, but it's a very short walk from St. Mary's.

Lacroix Passionfruit?

Cans - I've only ever seen them at Whole Foods, but now I'll have to get out to Target. I haven't seen Perrier grapefruit, but I'll have to look for it. I also like Polar grapefruit, but it's pretty hard to find in cans. I've found that at Wegmans.

I love Lacroix sparkling water - especially grapefruit. I recently heard that they have a passionfruit flavor. Has anyone seen it around?

July 2015 Openings and Closings

Sometime this summer may not be July, but so excited to see that Haley House is expanding by opening a pizza shop, which I know they've wanted to do for a while.

While it's a bit out of the way, I think it's worth the trip and I love their mission - so looking forward to seeing the next effort.

Gitana - Bread & Salt

Has anyone been yet? I've been meaning to get out to Cuisine en Locale but it's a bit of a hike for me so I've been dragging my feet waiting to hear how it is.

Daytime Party 35-40 guests, some young children

How exciting! I'm a little confused about what you're looking for - private space for 35? Lots of tables? Is it ok if people are at different tables? How does your price point look?

For some reason, Back Deck is coming to mind - it's an outdoor themed spot with mostly grilled-type food. Though the food isn't anything particularly foodie, it's a unique spot. I'm trying to think of other fun/casual options in downtown Boston - maybe one of the locations of Papagayo. Since you have CBC on there, what about Area 4? Za also has outdoor space nearby.

Nantucket

Unfortunately nothing to report but I'll be following too! Has anyone been to the Grey Lady yet? I saw its intended opening on Eater and now they're on Open Table but can't even find a website.

First trip to Boston

So I haven't done it in a few years and maybe others will chime in, but what I've mostly recently done is dinner somewhere near the Longfellow Bridge/Beacon Hill (Tip Tap Room or Lala Rokh aren't far) and then walked over to the Longfellow Bridge when they closed it. It's now under construction so things might change, but when the roads that they keep open for most of the day close, you can often swoop in. I think we got there about half an hour before the fireworks started and it worked out just fine. It depends on your priorities - some people pick up a picnic and get to the Hatch Shell at 7AM, but that's not what I'd be looking for.

Zagat's top 50

So I don't usually take Zagat's top lists too seriously, but there are a few restaurants on here that I haven't heard of - which makes me wonder whether I'm out of the loop, they're 'hidden' gems, or Zagat's just wrong. Each is equally possible.

https://www.zagat.com/l/boston/best-r...

Of course, Capital Grille doesn't belong at the top of the list, but some like Cafe Mangal, Chiara Bistro, and Byblos look interesting. Has anyone been to any of those? Are they worth a trip?
