Nantucket

For anyone looking, we had two stellar meals. One at the Grey Lady - for me, a standout was the tuna tartar sandwich. It had a lot going on, but I took it apart and savored every bite.

Our second meal was at Proprietor's Table. Almost every bite was a highlight. Their wine list was great and the server was very knowledgeable. My favorites were the zucchini fritters and the potatoes. You really can't miss though - we tried almost everything and loved it all. I love the vibe of the place, too.

Boston weekend with teens

I love Eastern Standard! In the same hotel as ICOB though, so may not be worth doing both in a short trip.

Petition to save Alive and Kicking

One of the comments on the petition says: The complaining neighbor, filed the zoning complaint after after she requested a easement through A&K property, when they would not grant the easement for her B&B she went after then in revenge.

Moved to Brighton, MA. Looking for great food, reasonable price!

I like Super Fusion sushi in Brookline a lot!

Trendy restaurant for vegetarian

I think Oleana, too, in addition to Sarma and A&H. I think I'd lean A&H though. Also Shojo/Myers + Chang could be fun.

Oooh I agree on Flour. That's my local favorite.

Help Quick - Gatehring near the Marriot Cambridge (MIT)

Honestly I'd just pick a bar where people can order at the bar. Likely a bigger spot, but separate checks with waiter service at a place like CBC would be a nightmare. Can they just get checks by table and split like people usually do? If so you'd have more options.

quiet bar near Faneuil Hall

Too late to be useful to you, but I've been to the Last Hurrah several times. It's definitely nothing fancy, but it's always been relatively quiet.

Breakfast near XV Beacon please?

I was thinking of Hungry Traveler or Capitol Coffeehouse. Though the breakfast sandwiches are Mike and Patty's fancy, they definitely deliver.

Central Bistro isn't too far off - that could be a good option. They have a happy hour (food) menu too.

How are these restaurants?

Great ones! I'm a huge fan of Shojo and Giulia has been on my list for ages. I haven't been particularly impressed by Trade or Night Market - I'd keep them off my list if I were you. I think Myers and Chang is a better version of Night Market if you're looking for Asian fusion type, though Shojo also fits in that category and is delicious. You could check out Oleana - about a 15 minute walk from Central Square (red line T) and same owner as Sarma.

Waterfront table for 3 on a Friday evening in July?

I knew I was missing one - Sam's is a great idea. Also Daily Catch could be good but I've never eaten there.

Waterfront table for 3 on a Friday evening in July?

I've never tried specifically for a water view table when making a reservation, but options include Aragosta, Joe's American in the North End, Dante in Cambridge... Whiskey Priest and Atlantic Beer Garden are right on the water though their food isn't great. Maybe Jerry Remy's or 75 on the Waterfront? Many places may not let you reserve a specifically outdoor table but it's worth a call.

Breakfast near XV Beacon please?

Are you looking for table service, etc.? A lot of your options in that area are also hotels like Beacon Hill Hotel (noted below) and the Omni Parker House. While it's nothing fancy, I do enjoy breakfast at Capitol Coffee.

Another food crawl planning help request

Inman! I've done it - start at Oleana, line up a few minutes before they open and do a mezze or two at the bar, then scoot along. We also did East Coast Grill and Christina's but you could add Tupelo or any of the other great options out there too.

I immediately thought of places like the Chestnut Hill Mall with their parking lots and handicapped spots. I liked the food at Seasons 52 last time I was there.

Lacroix Passionfruit?

Thanks everyone! I got to the Watertown Target yesterday and got passionfruit, apricot, and cherry lime. Next trip I'll have to look for the pineapple strawberry.

Viale or Oleana - at which one can we hear each other better?

I found Viale to be a little loud, actually. I'd recommend Oleana.

Boston dinner question

From the BCEC you can do a very short walk to the silver line which can bring you to South Station (red) and then transfer to orange, green - so really the world is your oyster depending on how much time you want to spend to get where you're going.

In the Fort Point/Seaport area, I'll offer Tavern Road and Pastoral as well as Blue Dragon and Babbo. All are within 15 minutes walking of BCEC if that's a priority for you (Babby might be more like 20).

Slightly further afield but still walking distance (~30 min) - Neptune Oyster, Shojo

Any decent brunch places reasonably close to Faneuil Hall?

It's a bit of a brunch wasteland over there. I haven't been to Scholars or Merchant for brunch but they both serve it a short walk from Faneuil.
