Best sources for variety of chili peppers?

Definitely smaller - they cut out prepared foods and the deli counter, among other things. They do still have the bulk section and bulk spices, both of which I love!

Looking for our new go-to restaurants: strong flavors, fun atmospheres

I'm excited to follow this thread because I, too, have very similar taste.

Places I also enjoy (many repeats): Sarma, Salty Pig, Myers + Chang, East by Northeast, Alden and Harlow, Orinoco
For fancy nights out: Sorellina
A casual lunch or dinner: Mei Mei

Also, two fun steakhouses that aren't too steakhouse-y: Boston Chops and Bogie's Place

Lastly, recently went to Foundry on Elm for the first time in ages. While the food isn't knock it out of the park, it was pretty good and I really liked the vibe.

Anniversary dinner

I just went to Sorellina for an anniversary this weekend. It was perfect! The food was delicious and it felt so special.

Casual, cozy restaurant for lunch in Back Bay area

I'll add Met Back Bay to the mix - they have quite a few rooms so none is particularly large, the food (especially lunch) is solid with quite a few options, and they take reservations. It's one of my go-to's for things like this.

Staying at Cambridgeside, restaurant suggestions

Hmm - I've never had anything but good service there. My bigger complaint about EVOO is the ambience - nice, but nothing special. The food, however, I love!

Graduation dinner/May 2015

Are you looking to eat closer to your hotel or closer to the graduation? There are a handful of really great but not too 'out there' restaurants near Harvard that are worth looking into - Alden and Harlow, Rialto, Harvest.

Hi there,

I'll be doing a similar trip - did you end up going? If so, do you have any recommendations? Thank you!

Looking for Private party recommendations!

Merchant's food isn't anything particularly special, but they have a ton of private spaces.

Best southern-fried chicken in the Greater Boston area?

This could be relevant to some reading the thread - fried chicken and tiki drinks at highland!

Rainbow Radishes?

Not sure how different watermelon radishes and rainbow radishes are, but I just got an email that my CSA this week (Winter Moon) will have purple watermelon radishes. They're also at the Cambridge Farmers Market according to their website.

Birthday Dinner Recommendations (~12 people, early-mid 20s)

Tico could be a good option - good drinks and vibe, though the food isn't my favorite. Maybe Merrill and Co? Beehive or Beat Hotel could be fun too - great atmosphere.

The options you mention make me think that you don't have any price restriction? I'm generally looking for something not too expensive when I think of large groups, so I recommend places like Salty Pig, Tico, Lolita, Papgayo... maybe not as useful for you though?

Also, probably too far for your taste but Tangierno could be a fun spot?

Best restaurants under $30 for App and Entree?

Orinoco! If you're not drinking, there are a variety of options that would keep you under that range.

Sibling dinner in lieu of Christmas presents

Myers and Chang is fun, and in the South End so you could bop around there afterwards. I usually get cocktails not beer though, so you might want to check out the list. Beehive (or Beat Hotel) could also be a fun option.

I'd say Alden and Harlow in Cambridge, but it does do small plates though it fits the rest of your criteria.

I just ate at one of the high tops right next to the kitchen at EVOO this weekend - it was an amazing experience. The food was delicious, and we saw everything happening!

1st Birthday Venues in Mass

I'd recommend searching this board for halal conversations - there have been a few, and that might be your best start. I don't know of many halal options in the area.

what is a good restaurant near Mass General hospital

What makes something interesting for you? Do you have a specific price point in mind? There isn't a ton of stuff right around there, but I enjoy the restaurants in the Liberty Hotel (Scampo, Alibi) as well as King of Siam for Thai, though it isn't anything fancy.

If you're willing to go a little farther, Lala Rokh is delicious Persian food off Charles Street.

Is it just me, or is this really utterly ridiculous?

I heard that they were submitted through the restaurant's contact page - which just requires an email address to be written. As his is easily found, it could be any impersonator...

Harvard Square Dinner

What constitutes reasonably priced for you? I really like Orinoco - not too expensive, good food, and a nice ambiance too.

You can't go home again ...

I was thinking Alden and Harlow too, but it can get pretty loud depending on when you go.

ISO Quiet place for a winter drink, Harvard-Porter-Davis Squares

One other idea for future searchers - I went to Kennedy's in Harvard Square last night for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. While the seats appear to be mostly high-tops, they're comfortable red leather benches, and the mulled wine hit the spot. The food was pretty good too! Well done bar food, nothing fancy, but will definitely be making it into the rotation.

October 2014 Openings and Closings

Ha - to clarify, those are the things I most like to eat from Chinese restaurants and what I order on my first visit when they're on the menu, so I can only say that both of those things weren't good, not that everything on the menu wasn't.

October 2014 Openings and Closings

Just an update - it's open! I went this weekend and was wildly unimpressed, unfortunately. According to Yelp via Eater, it's getting great reviews, but I won't be one of them. Full disclosure, I judge Chinese restaurants based on moo shi and peking ravioli, but neither was good so I won't be returning. Dumpling House is too close to eat worse food.
