Best Cuban food in New Orleans area?

Dear readers, Felipe's is a Mexican Taqueria, and does not serve Cuban food. It is fairly good for fast food Mexican.

Business Dinner Reccomendations in Round Rock

Hello Austin Residents,

Myself and two colleagues from New Orleans will be in Round Rock in a few weeks and I would like to have some good restaraunt recommendations. Based on what I have read on the boards so far, here is what I am looking for:

Generally upscale, well decorated and of course excellent food.
Great wine list.
Expense account budget (up to $ 150/person), not outrageous, but nice.
Near Round Rock.
Steaks, BBQ , American, Seafood is OK. No Japanese, vegeterian, exotic food, I need to please meat and potato guys here.

Your help is greatly appreciated. Drop me a line if you need New Orleans recs.

Dining in Downtown Cincinnati

Dear Chowhounds,
Please suggest a few good restaraunts in the Downtown area of Cincinnati, OH. I travel a lot and prefer local fare. I will be there for a weeklong conference at the Hilton Nederland and would like suggestions for walking distance or short cab rides. I'm a New Orleanean, so please no seafood, cajun or creole, I won't be impressed. Cheers!

Cancun dinner recommendations

They attack you like pirhannas as soon as you get off the boat. I rode the boat from Turtle Beach, I think? (Tortugas) I'm sorry I do not remember the name of the tour, but the office is in the same place as the boat dock.

Cancun dinner recommendations

I agree, you must leave the hotel zone for good food. I learned this too late, after a handful of high priced mediocre meals I ate at La Parilla, it is the only restaraunt I can recommend. I was not impressed with Captains Cove. I had the Lobster Enchiladas and if it wasn't for the distinctive fishy/ iodine tast, I would swear they forgot to add the lobster. We also had some great fresh fish during a snorkeling tour on Isla Mujeres, but that was not really a restaraunt, you have to go on the tour. The snorkeling was $20 and the lunch was $5. By far the best deal we got on our vacation.

You do not need a cab, take the bus for $0.65, its much more fun.

4 Nights in Downtown Dallas

Well, I won't be buying a $1000 bottle of wine, but $75 for a 3 course meal and an iced tea is acceptable. I will gladly pay less for great food.

4 Nights in Downtown Dallas

I will be staying in the Downtown Hyatt (I think it has the lighted ball on the tower) for 4 nights. Please provide some suggestions for some good expense account dining. Walking distance or a short cab ride from the hotel would be preferable. Thank you for your suggestion. Cheers.

Two Nights in Albuquerque

Hello everyone,
I have been reading the board and can't seem to find a can't miss restaraunt of the New Mexican or Mexican variety. Some of the suggestions have closed (Sanitary Tortilla Factory), some of the suggestions have mixed reviews (The Frontier), and some are lunch only (El Modelo).

Please be so kind as to give me two or three dinner recommendations for outstanding New Mexican or Mexican food. I am on an expense account with a rental car, so anything goes. Thanks.

As of Sept 07 it is open (Kenner location). We went there for the first time last night. It was a nice change of pace. The ceviche was excellent. So was the tres leches. The entrees were average. The beef was chewy, but it always is in any type of latin cuisine in my experience.

Downtown St. Louis Eats (on expense account)

OK. That did not help. Are there any good places to eat in St. Louis? The postings are sparse and quite negative.

PS - Im from New Orleans, so I am not easily impressed.

Downtown St. Louis Eats (on expense account)

Hi all,
I will be staying downtown St. Louis for a week in May 2007. I will be on an expense account. I have a car so travel is not an issue, but it would be nice to walk around downtown. Please recommend at least one 'can't miss' BBQ restaraunt. Thanks in advance.

Request for recommendations for dinner near Pittsburgh

I will be staying in Monroeville, just outside of Pittsburgh, for two nights. I would appreciate recommendations for dinner on an expense account. I would like to eat somewhere with a Pittsburgh flavor, if there is one. Thanks.

Best Pizza in Metairie

We just moved to Metairie last year and happened to notice a joint on Clearview north of W. Esplanade called 'Pizza Gourmet'. I think it is the best pizza I have had in the NO area. I wanted to share this with my fellow Metarites; forget Pizza Hut, Papa John's and Dominoes. Try the Salami as a topping. Strictly a carry out or delivery place, though.

Best Gumbo?

Believe it or not, I had some fantastic gumbo at Shula's on Canal. Also had a great seafood-andouille gumbo at Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse last week.

Philly chowhound heading to Big Easy

NO is not much of a breakfast town, the only place I can think of worth going to is Elizabeth's. There are lots of good Jazz Brunches on the weekends, but will usually run over $30 per person.
For a budget lunch and dinner: Acme Oyster House, Coop's, Mother's, Mulate's, Gumbo Shop, Praline Connection.
For a little more (~$40) try one of the Brennan's restaraunts: Palace Cafe, Bourbon House, Redfish Grill, or the non-Brennan Court of Two Sisters and K-Pauls.
