cheese plate

I had the one at Uncorked too. Very solid, not spectacular -- just want to note than none of our cheeses were sliced. This was last week.

UT Eats

nypb mentioned We Fuse. The Dobie Mall location ain't great, but I go to this place at least once a week. Salmon, seared tuna, chicken, miso-encrusted tofu on either greens for a salad or in a bento box. Bento box sides include rice, dumplings, and veggies such as gingered carrots, asparagus, cucumber salad, etc. Very fresh and healthy. Their aim clearly is to keep it simple -- the same soy-sauce-and-chili-pepper sauce is used for several items. But for $8-$10, it's a terrific lunch. (And they're open only for lunch.)

Vegetarian friendly BBQ?

I second Lamberts (2nd and Guadalupe). Upscale, tasty meats. You could get by well on sides, a salad, the yummy chickpea appetizer, etc.

No more jager bombs and vodka redbulls!

I second the Clay Pit. Nice atmosphere (no TV! yay!), low-key during the week. Happens to be in walking distance for me (and a better option than Dog & Duck). The two regular bartenders -- a black guy with thin dreds and a shorter white guy -- both know what they're doing. Their wine options are ok but not that great.

I started a link when it first opened but mistakenly mispelled the name as "Sangra." A few mixed reviews so far:

new Italian in old Mars

My mistake -- it's called Sagra, not Sangra. I walk by it often and haven't seen much activity. Will try to check it out one of these nights.

new Italian in old Mars

I moved to Austin a year ago from NYC and have been lurking on this board. Thanks for all the great info -- you all have been helpful more than you can know.

Just an FYI -- an Italian restaurant called Sangra is now open in the old Mars space at 17th and San Antonio. Anyone know anything about it?
