How to transport le creuset on plane?

Oh I just researched. The cost of one 5.5 LC pot is under the limit for UK tariff. Of course if you are bringing in lots, that is another story! :)

How to transport le creuset on plane?

Thanks, well at least we can pour water in it....she will be in a hotel! US customs are usually nice about gifts and used things; I have no idea about the UK.

That's true. If it is a gift I hope they will not be so strict! Thx :)

How to transport le creuset on plane?

Thanks for your response. I will look for a handle. :) I don't know how much she pays for extra baggage. I hope it'll be worthwhile for her! Maybe will have to warn her in advance....so much for surprises!

How to transport le creuset on plane?

Hi, I have bought a 5.5 LC dutch oven for a friend. She will fly to the US from England and I will surprise her with the gift. I hesitate to mail it because of the huge fee, and she will get tariff charges. LC is more expensive on UK ebay so I got it here in the US. She will like it but will have to lug it from the airport to her home. Any suggestions on how to make the trip bearable for my friend? Thank you.

What can I cook with a 9 quart dutch oven???

In the end I think I will keep i! Recently after a roast leg of lamb I needed a big pot to put the whole leg in. I realized that you really need room for these things...!

What can I cook with a 9 quart dutch oven???

Hi, my "large stock pot" is 8 quarts so the 9 qt DO is the largest. Wow, all of you are so nice to contribute your thoughts and suggestions. I really appreciate it! :)

What can I cook with a 9 quart dutch oven???

That would be one huge slow rise! Don't you think my 7 quart one is big enough? :) I think I'll have to buy a farm, raise the animals and cook them just to make use of this LC 9 qt thing! lol

What can I cook with a 9 quart dutch oven???

My DO is 30 cm (12 in.) -- I haven't measured a turkey to see if it would fit. :)

What can I cook with a 9 quart dutch oven???

Wow! Seriously do you recommend a 9 quart pot for that to 7 quarts? Just wondering. I do have to cook large batches to make use of this thing. :)

What can I cook with a 9 quart dutch oven???

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts. It seems that the large DO is for massive meat cooking! This is different to the little stir fries I was making in Asia, I am so not used to this. I will see if it works...:)

Dutch Oven Recommendations & advice

Cuisinart makes a 4.5 quart dutch oven in tri ply stainless steel. It is in the FCT collection which is made in France and heavier than their cheaper, lighter stuff. I saw it on Amazon for 99 dollars. :)

What can I cook with a 9 quart dutch oven???

Thanks! I never thought of braising 2 chickens at once. I could try it at family gatherings. I'm not sure I want to cook THAT much chili! Thanks for answering. :)

What can I cook with a 9 quart dutch oven???

Mine is round, not oval! I guess I could make one huge cacciatore in it...Nine quarts of chili sounds a bit dangerous! Thanks for writing.

What can I cook with a 9 quart dutch oven???

Hi, the "go to" I use most of all is a 5.5Q saucier pan (copper, Cuisinart). I lived in Asia and am used to stove cooking rather than ovens so that is good for soup, pasta sauce, chili, risotto, strogenoff...maybe a 5.5 DO will be overdoing it? My 3.5 DO is ok for the bread, I think! I don't know if I will cook enough big meat to fit in such a 9Q one unless I have very big parties! BTW I have a lid, but I'll tell you-- on ebay people are always selling lids, have a look! Maybe you can sell yours. :) Thanks for the msg. :)

I have a big round one. That must be a lot of osso bucco! I think I will use the smaller one more often too...thanks for responding. :)

What can I cook with a 9 quart dutch oven???

I accidentally bought a 9 quart LC dutch oven on ebay, thinking it was maybe 5 quarts. It looked small in the picture! It is too costly to send back to seller so I will either sell or keep it. If I keep it, what on earth can I do with a 9 quart pot? I already have a large stainless stock pot and a 7 quart LC dutch oven. Is there any reason a 9 quart pot can be useful?? (If not, a new Soliel pot will go on ebay...) Thanks! :)

what brand of fish sauce?

I lived in Thailand and Tiparos was commonly used--it's very good. Here in the US, I find that some brands made here have sugar which totally alters the taste. (like "Asian Chef," whatever.) Fish sauce made in Thailand is a good bet. Otherwise check labels and buy one without sugar. You can add sugar at your own discretion but that is not the nam plaa taste! :)

Best Grill Pan?

Yes, Lodge is great too. You have to be careful to have all the meat at room temperature and preheat the grill so it won't stick. :) I was a novice when I used the Lodge and I burned everything! My LC cleanup is so fast and easy now, I'm spoiled. But if you know how to handle your Lodge it should be perfect. :)

How to store LC enamel cookware: can you stack it?

Thanks to everyone for your responses! I think I'll use a combination of dish towels and foam to put between the pieces so they don't chip. :)

Best Grill Pan?

I have the LC square grill pan and panini press. They are excellent. Food cooks nicely, does not stick, I get great grill marks, easy to clean. All meat and veg turn out great.

How to store LC enamel cookware: can you stack it?

I recently bought several LC pieces: 3 dutch ovens, grill pan, fry pan. They are still in their boxes. My other cookware is stacked in cupboards in the kitchen. What is the best way to store LC and still save space? Thanks!

New Creuset Color at Williams-Sonoma

Exactly. Particularly in WS. I think they are discontinuing Dijon yellow and have a new one called Quince which is dull and lusterless.
