BEST BURGERS IN TORONTO!! ??

You wrote" Craft Burger on King at Portland IMO just keeps getting better." Followed up by two paragraphs at how awful it was.

Now that is a recommendation!!!

Good Job!

best burgers in T.O.

The only reason people like Allens is cause they will cook it rare - hence why it isnt on the menu. If you like it rare then go for it. IMO its gross. Out of all the up and coming new places around the city I still find the Gourmet Burger Company on Parliament to be consistently the best. Just dont expect your patty to need a "pad" when served.

Lee Garden on Spadina / North of Dundas

As with any restaurant in the area....eat at your own risk. Lately chinatown has become the tourist food equivalent of Captain John's. The real places to go arent safe and the clean places to go arent real.

Bone sucking BBQ sauce...worth the expense?

Its actually quite generic and not very good. Try something from Grumpy's or Pappy's if you can find it. The PC Smokin Chipotle and Tequila Habanero are far superior to is as well.

Chowfind! Big Momma's Boy on Parliament

Awwwww muffin..........!!!!!!

Holy Samosa!

Where are the best Samosa's in the city.

Whether fried or baked, meat filled or veggie.

Where in the city do I find the best Samosa's we can maybe grab a dozen to take home or stop by for a snack?

Nagu Jolokia hot pepper- can I buy it inToronto

I have some - get them shipped from the states. Never found a fresh one here though.

A decent bar near The Phoenix

The Red Lion on Jarvis? Gabby's on Sherbourne?
House on Parliament? The Keg Mansion? Hair of the Dog?

Fresh and Wild coming to Bayview? the foodie hot spot gets "hotter"?

Seriously, I may be one of least snobbiest people around CHTO and F&W is nothing to get excited about.

Gourmet Burger Co Review

This place is incredible. Sometimes I don't think people would know a good burger if it slapped em in the face hot off the grill.

I have consistently had a a perfect burger from GBC week after week. Their onion rings may also be the best in the city. The SO prefers the sweet potato fries.

Ever place will have is detractors but don't let it steer you away from giving it a try.

Toronto's Best Chicken Wings

Ugh - Armageddon Wings are no where near 850,000. They top out at 400,000. They say they aren't using extract in it but thatsw a lie.

In fact Mega Death Sauce from Blair's and Armageddon sauce are almost identical. Mega Death tops out at 550,000 and is chock full of extract.

Duff's could not afford to keep wings those prices if they were using Naga. Naga is still very specialized and its heat goes up to about 1 Million and the burn and taste is completely different than a habanero.

I called Duffs out on how they came up with their number and even they know its wrong.

Burrito Boyz or Chipotle?

Chipotle.

If it was independant people would be all over it instead of Burrito Boyz.

Jerk Sauce

Easy....Walkerswood. Get it at Taste the 4th Sense on Danforth or even at Walmart.

Others sauce need not apply unless you get a good Jamaican restaurant to put some sauce in a jar for you.

Looking for Restaurant Near Carlton and Jarvis

For something more casual and right around the corner try Hair of the Dog Church and Carlton)

Also try George, Trevor. Colbourne Lane perhaps?

Gourmet Burger Company - Cabbagetown

Carlton and Parliament. West side of Parliament north of Carlton about 40 feet. (was posted on the original thread)

Gourmet Burger Company - Cabbagetown

Drove by tonight and the place was packed!

Definately know where I am stopping off for lunch tomorrow. Mmmmm Burger and Onion Rings!!!!

Will report in shortly after!

Gourmet Burger Company - Cabbagetown

Hmmmm I thought Johnny G's could almost have a picture beside the definition 'Greasy Spoon'. There is also Chew Chew's which would probably meet your expectations in a pretty cool environment as well.

Gourmet Burger Company - Cabbagetown

So Cabbagetown's gentrification continues with yet another upscale foodie joint.

The paper isn't off the windows yet but The Gourmet Burger Company looks like it is set to open very soon. Just north of Johnny G's where the old Wing Machine used to be.

Anyone have an inside scoop on this place? Burgers are the one thing this area is really lacking in!

Gettin Chilly and I need some Chili

I make a mean chili. But I need to find somewhere downtown that can take care of this when I don't have time to make it. Tim Horton's actually does well enough in a pinch but it's nothing stellar. Where can I get some to go.

Note that heat is not a factor here - I take care of that myself (ie I co-run hotsauceblog.com).

Chipotle Opens! (Downtown Toronto)

Having had both the U.S. and Canadian version. The T.O. was superior. You can find a great Burrito in this city. The bigger problem is find a realistic customer!

Who's your fav. butcher at St. Lawrence Market?

Steaks - Whitehouse meats
Rabbit - Whitehouse meats
Pork chops - Brown Brothers
Seafood - either of the two on the same side of the market

Where to find great wings?

I too have had wings from most places in the city. For those looking for hot wings, order wings naked and have a bottle of Defcon Sauce nearby. Seriously, the most revolutionary thing to hit wings since the Anchor Bar. Defcon 3 is mild, Defcon 2 - medium and Defcon 1 hot. There is a Defcon 0 - but be warned about that. Try Taste the 4th Sense on the Danforth for Defcon 1-2-3. The rest can be found at www.defconsauces.com.

There was a Defcon Death Match Day in Toronto 2 years ago and it was a huge success. I believe this is really a chowhound find but it is tough to get here. I hate to see fellow Torontonians deprived of something so amazing.

Ya ya sales pitch aside try it and you will be a believer.

Where to find great wings?

Best wings are the ones that use Defcon Wing Sauce. Whether fried, baked or grilled.

This sauce has revolutionized the wing. No restaurant uses it. If you are lucky you can find some at Taste the 4th Sense on the Danforth - or for sure at www.defconsauces.com.

I order wings naked at Duff's at put Defcon on it (Defcon #1 mixed with Defcon Deathmatch sauce). If I know I am going out for wings - I just bring it with me. It will turn a mediocre wing into a excellent wing, and excellent wing into a.........you see where this is going.

Reliable, high quality, no-nonsense butchers

White House Meats at the St. Lawrence Market for sure.

Many also swear by St. Jamestown Steaks and Chops.

Favourite LCBO in Toronto? Setting up full bar

Ya the Queen's Quay staff went beyond helpful last time we were there and we had to find the perfect wine for entertaining.

Meat, fish and chicken at St. Lawrence Market

Trial and error. I buy Filet Mignon at one butcher but my NY Strips at another. Same with Pork Chops. I buy chicken wings only at Loblaws. I find the SLM butchers to have really stinky wings. Also it helps to get to know the people that work there. There is a "regular" price structure and then the crowded "tourist" price structure. Its not steep but over time it can make a difference. Get there early as well. 8:30am on Saturday morning seems to be the cut off time for foodies and 905ers to make the transition of the SLM populace.

where is the best fish and chips in Toronto/GTA??

Now thats a road\boat\plane trip!!!

Have to put that on the agenda for next year.....just because!!!!

seafood restaurant suggestions?

Starfish! I thought their prices were decent.

Chinese lobster/crab specials

I wonder if it is anything like "beach chicken" or "house chops".

The best club sandwich in TO?

In Toronto - I don't think I have anything memorable. Nothing great - nothing bad. The best I had was at the Radisson in Sudbury of all places. Their interpretation of the club was the most memorable I had. Foccacia - turkey - bacon - the works. May not stick to the strict rules of chowhound club fanatics here but it was damn fine.
