Two days in Lafayette: Where to eat cajun/creole? To hear good music?
Thanks for the recommendations. We did Adelle's Whiskey River in Henderson and danced our collective booties off. Pat's in Henderson for dinner was okay, but not great. Nimbeaux in Lafayette is a GREAT lunch place. Good food and great staff. Prejean's for dinner was an excellent Cajun experience, both food and live music.

We will be coming to Lafayette from NOLA next Sunday for a couple of days in Cajun country. We're looking for good cajun/creole food, but not too pricey. Also, where's to go for good cajun/zyedco music on Sunday and Monday nights? Must be csome good bars to check out, right?
Also, is there anything for us to see/eat good if we come out from NOLA on I-10 and go back to NOLA on US 90?

SF Near Union Square
We are coming to SF on Sunday, staying in a hotel 2 blocks off Union Square. We will be on foot, but can do public transportation.
Where are "must eats" that are not too expensive? We like seafood, Chinese, Vietnamese, Italian. Where is a really good meal in Chinatown? North Beach? Is Little Joe's/Baby Joe's still happening? The Red Pepper on Sansome? Isn't there a garlicky place on Broadway (Stinking Rose, I think)? Should we try it out?

Thanks, Jamie. BTW, 17th Street BBQ is only the 2nd best in Murphysboro. Pat's is definitely #1 here in town: better ribs and pulled pork for sure.

My wife and I are coming into Nashville this weekend for two days. Getting together with my sister, also from out of town, on Friday night? What's good, but not too pricey? Where's good music for Friday night? Broadway?
Saturday night we're going to Grand Old Opry for the late show. What's good to eat in the area? Should we do the Loveless on the way out on Sunday morning? Or Friday for lunch on the way in (we're coming from the northwest on I-24).
Also, we heard there's a great Chinese place, but don't know the name PK somethings? Is it worth the trip?

Got Big Green Egg. Now what?
Thanks to all who provided advice about purchasing a Big Green Egg. We have now bought a Large one, and we're eager to get going.
I tried making country ribs today, using a recipe that called for smoking the meat at 275-300 or so for about four hours. The meat came out really tough, although pretty tasty. PLEASE, what should I do to make my ribs as I want them to be...falling of the bone tender, yet juicy meat? Is there anything I can do with the ribs I've already cooked to make them more tender?
Need advice on Big Green Egg
By "good sized wood chunks" do you mean that you use them instead of lump charcoal? In addition to the charcoal? What size? Any advice is ,much appreciated, since I want to start smoking some pork butts and ribs ASAP.
A Great Place off the beaten path in S. Illinois
If you are traveling in or near the scenic Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois, check out Mase's Place in Pomona. The food is good and plentiful (check out the AYCE fried whitefish on Friday nights), the prices are right, the beer is cold, the place is clean, the owners (Scott and Patty Mason) and staff are very friendly, the location is beautiful.

Need advice on Big Green Egg
What's the consensus on the Big Green Egg? My wife and I are thinking of buying one. We like to grill steaks, chicken, burgers. Would like to smoke ribs, pork, brisket. What size is best? There's just two of us, but we occasionally entertain.
I've been to their web site, and to their disucssion lists, but I've learned to trust fellow Chowhounds. Is it worth the price? Does it live up to the hype?

next week for 4 days. Where's good to eat in the neighborhood? Where on The Hill? Our budget is a bit tight (whose isn't these days?). What's not to be missed? We like all cuisines. We'll have a car, so we can travel a bit for something not to be missed.

Missing my NYC pickles - HELP
I am too far away from NYC to get the most authentic kosher garlic pickles, like what I've had at the Carnegie Deli. Bubbie's and Ba-Tampte apparently don't ship. Any tips on relieving my pickle withdrawal by mail? If it's the Pickle Guys in NYC that I will have to go to, which are the ones that taste closest to Bubbie's Kosher Dills?
