Seafood lunch

Doubt it. Really very different restaurants.

Seafood lunch

I'd say Matt's in the Market is several steps above Matt's in Redmond. Find Matt's in Redmond adequate, but not something I would recommend to someone visiting Seattle or trying to find something to compare to Anchovies & Olives.

Seafood lunch

Is there a particular reason you want to go to Dalia Lounge for dinner? If not, you could go there for lunch and then do Anchovies & Olives for dinner.

Weekend in Seattle - Food recs?

The bar at Aragona is also a good choice for interesting bites at a lower price point. They have also just increased the hours on their Happy Hour. If you go there, try some of the desserts - the pastry chef is doing some really interesting things.

Weekend in Seattle - Food recs?

Really enjoyed the dinner we had at Le Petit Cochon a few weeks ago. Ate through most of the menu, sharing with another couple. One of the more interesting meals we have had in Seattle recently. The menu does change frequently so I would check to see if what is listed appeals.

Friends Relocating to Seattle: Best restaurant to send them to?

I would also recommend Cafe Juanita on the Eastside - some people find the "cuteness" and "show" at Herbfarm offputting.

Restaurant Depot help with Meats?

Haven't actually looked for them, but the flyer says Fresh Portion controlled NY strip (8,10,12 or 16 oz), rib Eye (8,10,12, or 16 oz), sirloin (5,6,8,10,12 oz) & filets (5,6,8,10 oz) in 5lb cases. They even claim to have a YouTube video on why this is better than restaurant hand cut steaks

Restaurant Depot help with Meats?

The most recent flyers I've received say they are now offering portion controlled steaks - I assume that means pre -cut. Not sure if they are available everywhere.

Costco Food Finds - 3rd Quarter 2014

I haven't had the almond, but their other ones are great!

New and notable special occasion restaurant

Definitely like Aragona, especially the Bar, but the one time we sat in the dining room it was really noisy - hard to actually talk across the table.

Overwhelmed, need ideas on where to start

Steamed Buns

Tried it today and would definitely go back. I've had better shumai and har gow (though not on the Eastside) but the chicken feet and turnip cake were quite good. I had one dish I had never tried before - HOM SUI GOK
and would go back just to have that again. I have mixed feelings about the fried bun - it was good and different but I would have liked more filling. Service was attentive and very helpful.

Roe - worth every penny

As to caviar in Portland, the new Russian restaurant, Kachka, has an extensive caviar service.

Thanks - will definitely try it. Also intrigued by the Hakka dishes.

Interested to hear if anyone else has any comments on Eastern Pearl. Good dim Sum in Redmond would be wonderful!

What NOT to buy at Costco's

We've never had a problem with the Kirkland brand pistachios - interesting.

What NOT to buy at Costco's

I think the 30 days only applies to certain electronics. I have occasionally taken things back way beyond that.

One FINAL request for my short mini-chowmeet with Singapore Hound in July

Just thought of another casual option in Redmond - look at Pomegranate Bistro.

Trellis and Canlis are really different, though yes, Matt's is definitely more rustic. Not sure if Matt's is really on most peoples radar so they may not have been there. Volterra, near Trellis could be another option, though the food can be inconsistent.

Based on what you said about Cafe Juanita I get the impression that you are looking for dinner on a Sunday or Monday. If that is the case, I'd definitely suggest that you look at Trellis. They offer a 3 for $33 menu on those nights with a lot of choices for each course. The last time I was there, they also had 1/2 price bottles of wine those nights. Definitely the best food of the 3 you mentioned. I unfortunately have never had more than a mediocre meal the 3 times I went to Italianissimo .

Agree with Matt's over McCormick. Remember it being OK if not memorable while the last 2 times McCormick's was really bad. Matt's is probably more relaxed for teenagers. I find Seastar in Bellevue to be more of a "business meeting" type of place and while a lot better that McCormick's not really good enough to justify the prices.

Seastar, also in Bellevue would be much better than McCormick & Schmick. Its a shame about the rabbit freak out - Cafe Juanita is by far the best restaurant on the Eastside.

They have carried it for years (though not sure if it is always there) at the stores in the Seattle are, but that may be because it is a local product.

Vancouver Hound's first real trip to Seattle -- help an elf out?

For HH, look at Ch'an for something different. Also, actually liked the HH and bar menu at Aragona better than the dinner menu. Cocktails are good at both but not sure about the beer since I don't drink it.

La Carta also serves lunch which I found less of a wait and has 2 sister restaurants Mezcalaria Oaxaca in Queen Anne and Capitol Hill. Don't know how they compare.

Just returned from dinner there - the actual menu is much more interesting than what is currently online. The foie preparation was wonderful as were the sweetbreads.

Voterra really doesn't come even close to being on the same level as Cafe Juanita.
