Seating at Pasta Fazool

Thanks cmjones. It seem they changed their policy and, as you said, now allow people to reserve booths on Saturday. On our last two visits, we were able to reserve a booth for two. And, yes, it was early.

Fish closing temporarily

This is terrible news. Mike is a great guy and a great chef.

Recommendation for Anniversary dinner in New Hope, Doylestown, etc

The Inn at Phillips Mill inNew Hope has a pretty outdoor area and it is byob. Romantic.

Byo wedding reception ideas?

We had our wedding at Fleischer and it was a beautiful space.

Fishtown / Northern Liberties Restaurants

Pickled Heron in Fishtown is an excellent French byob.

Soft shell crabs in Philly

Fond had them Tuesday night, sauteed. They looked good.

Soft shell crabs in Philly

Had delicious soft shell crabs at Heirloom last week.

Cafe Mambo in Hatboro?

We were at Pasta Fazool last night. Mambo is right next door. Looked like it hasn't opened yet.

Heading back to Philadelphia, tweaking the agenda.

I have been to Ulivo twice. It is very good. I agree that you shouldn't go to Mica if you are going to Blackfish.

Dessert scene in Philly?

I like the red velvet cake at La Golosa.

Please critique my itinerary

Sylvia, we had the same experience of rushed service. My husband refuses to go back.

Heading back to Philadelphia, tweaking the agenda.

I would add Fond, an excellent byob (up the street from Le Virtu) to your list. Also Fish or Littlefish.

Heading back to Philadelphia, tweaking the agenda.

Popolino was pretty but the food wasn't as good as at Modo Mio.

Two meals, skip the pretense

You would probably like Littlefish in Bella Vista. Excellent fish preparation in tiny byob. It's only slightly fancier than when it was at its original place (a block away).

Weekday Dinner near Huntingdon Valley Library

Probably not for a fast dinner but Tavola in HV is very good.

Styer's Terrain Cafe in Glen Mills?

Thanks for the great review, refinnej. A friend went for brunch last year and really enjoyed it. I love the idea of combining it with a trip to Yellow Springs Farm.

Sunday Brunch near Ambler

I haven't been in a few years but I always fournd Zake's to be noisy. Also, they have no bar. Joseph Ambler is a good choice. I think Mica in Chestnut Hill serves brunch, as does Avenida. Not too far from Ambler.

Heirloom?

Sylvia, I think they deleted it because I had put in a link to my blog. I highly recommend Heirloom. Even though I read in some reviews elsewhere that it is noisy, it wasn't last night. Granted, we arrived at 5pm but by the time we left (around 6:30pm), it was quite full and still fairly quiet. The food is wonderful, the place is very pretty and the service if very nice. Please post if you go.

Heirloom in Chestnut Hill

We went to Heirloom last night and loved it. I agree with your assessment, chowinpa. Atmosphere, service and food were all terrific. I wrote a full review (with pics) and put in a link but Chowhound apparently removed it.

Thanks for the Chestnut Hill suggestion

Sylvia, I agree completely with your take on Roller's. Not exciting but, for some occasions, perfect. Thanks for the review.

Badoit availability in the Philly area?

A few years back, I tried everything to get it after we came back from Paris. No luck. I would be interested to know where Bibou gets. Love Badiot "avec gaz".

One night in Philly -- Fish or Barbuzzo?

The skate in parmesan broth is excellent, and I love the spaetzle. Only thing for me is I wish Mike would go back to the spinach spaetzle he used to do. I'm sure I'm in the minority and most people love the truffle spaetzle.

Why Bibou doesn't deserve Four Bells...

I agree with you completely george2.

Why Bibou doesn't deserve Four Bells...

Have only been to Bibou twice and never sat at the bar. Look forward to doing so in future. At Pif we always sat at the bar when we could. Best seats in the house Btw I agree Bibou deserves the four bells.

Philly Hound in Chicago

Coming to Chicago for a long weekend. How are my choices:

Gene and Georgetti (because my husband wants a steakhouse and I want Chicago atmosphere)

North Pond

Everest

Would appreciate any comments. Thanks.

BYO's in the Western Burbs?

I second Pescatore. We have been there several times and never disappointed. Prices are moderate.

BYO's in the Western Burbs?

I think Zacharias is closed. I would add Mina Cucina in Springhouse.

Philly Weekend in Late March -- How's My List Look?

La Golosa (near 6th & Catherine) is a good dessert destination.

Seating at Pasta Fazool

Does anyone know what their policy is on seating? Every time I have made a reservation on a Saturday and asked for a booth, I am told they don't reserve booths on Saturday. We were there early Saturday evening with my two (well behaved) grandchildren and placed at a huge round table for six. We were all pretty far from each other. There were three empty booths behind us and -- when I asked for one -- I was told they were reserved. What's the deal? Either they take reservations for booths or they don't.

Philly Weekend in Late March -- How's My List Look?

Good list. However, I think you should include one or two of our great byob's. Bibou and Littlefish would be at the top of my list. Also, I don't know when you are coming but (unless you already have one) you should make your Vetri reservation. I think it's still two months out. I would call exactly two months before the date you want. If I'm wrong on this, someone here here will correct me. It is difficult, though, to get Vetri reservations.
