cstr - great idea. I had considered buying a bigger pot, but I do have a large roasting pan which should work.
mels - thanks for the update. I thought the 5.5 might be too small. Was it difficult to sear all the sides? I have a hard time picking up the meat to turn it, it's so awkward. I have some tongs. Maybe a fork and tongs?

How big was your pot? How many people did the roast serve? I have a 5.5 quart pot and I'll be having 8 people over, plus myself and my husband. I'm just not sure if a 5 lb roast will fit in my pot and if it will be enough for 10 people. Thanks!
