Dinner in DC with 23 and 10 year old

Thanks again for more replies. Central is not available on Friday night so we will definitely plan further again for our next trip down in July! A member of our party wants to try Founding Farmers and since we have the reservation, we'll keep it. You've given me choices for future trips. Thanks!

Dinner in DC with 23 and 10 year old

Thanks for all of the additional replies. I am trying to cater to my youngest daughter's tastes. I'll have to check the metro map to see how she and I will get to any of these places. 20 & M is where my older daughter works. I'll be coming from the Air and Space Museum. It's my bday so I was looking for something that I would like as well!!

Dinner in DC with 23 and 10 year old

Thanks for your suggestions, everyone! I will check out the menus at the restaurants that you mentioned. My 10 year old is a very picky eater so unless it's food she sees on a kids' menu, she's not eating it!!

Dinner in DC with 23 and 10 year old

Hello. Looking for a suggestion for dinner on Friday night in DC with my 23 and 10 year old daughters.. Looking for someplace within walking distance of 20th and M. Right now, I have a reservation for Founding Farmers, but wondering if that's a good choice for the 10 year old. I've seen suggestions for Central and The Hamilton on other websites. The 10 year old loves mac and cheese. I can deal with lobster mac or good crab cakes!

Food at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst NC

Anyone dine at any of the restaurants at the Pinehurst resort? Dinners are included in our package. There's a fine dining restaurant called 1895 Grille. Is it worth is or should we stick to the more casual fare?

Too many reservations for Montreal!

Thanks for the reply. I actually did try Joe Beef and it is fully booked. I'll give them a call!

The last 4 restaurants are cheaper alternatives for other nights, not the anniversary dinner. I'll be there for 3 nights. Thanks!

Too many reservations for Montreal!

Hi. We're coming to Montreal for our 15th anniversary in a couple of weeks. I received great recommendations on this site. I've made way too many reservations and am now trying to figure out which to cancel since I do not want to go overboard and spend $800 to $1000 on food. I splugred on the hotel in Old Montreal.

So, which should I cancel? Thinking I will probably not try foie gras but may try poutine. I'm really not a foodie but definitely got caught up in finding "the" place for our anniversary. I've now read bad reviews for my choice for our anniversary and am now doubting that.

Our anniversary dinner at Les 400 Coups. Friday lunch at Club Chasse et Peche with dinner at Au Pied de Cochon. Definitely thinking of canceling one of those. Doing both on the same day is probably too much. Sat night at Garde Manger. I got up at 3:30am to try to get the Garde Manger reservation and only 6:45 was available so I grabbed it. I'm probably going to keep at least 2 of these reservations. Wondering if Club Chasse et Peche is a better choice for our anniversary dinner?

Am in the process now of printing out menus for places like Restuarant Holder, F Bar, Brasserie T, Laloux to see how many some of those would work. Really don't want to worry about ordering wine because food is so expensive. I'm overthinking this way too much! Getting to the point that I'd rather go where I get a great pizza with a good bottle of wine instead of worrying about how much wine will cost in addition to dinner.

Do you agree with concierge's recommendations in Old Montreal?

Thanks, Cherylmtl. I really don't know what we're doing during the day. We may do a bicycle tour. I imagine we'll be eating lunch where ever we wind up, but would be in Old Montreal for dinner at least for 2 nights. Friday night is wide open. So, I'm thinking that night we will not be in Old Montreal. Need to figure out what restaurants are in the city vs. Old Montreal. I did try Joe Beef and they are booked. My husband doesn't want to go all out on eating expensive dinners everynight. so Friday looks like it will be very low key. I did make a Lunch reservation at Club Chassee but we may cancel if we do the bike tour or find a bike tour early evening. Thanks again for everyone's help here!

Do you agree with concierge's recommendations in Old Montreal?

Thank you all for your additional replies. Good point about eating dinner in Old Montreal. We don't intend on doing major amounts of sight seeing since it's our anniversary weekend and we just want to relax away from the kids:-) I did get a reservation at Garde Manger through Opentable at 3am this morning. 10 minutes later nothing was available. I was shocked!! The reservation is early which concerns me since we will not be able to stay for the evening. It's at 6:45PM. I'm going to post a separate question for after dinner ideas! Still working on the other ideas that I can use for lunch now. Thanks!

Do you agree with concierge's recommendations in Old Montreal?

Thanks, Cherylmtl! My husband wants to enjoy jazz one night so trying to fit that in. Right now, it's looking like Thurs night, Les 400 Coups. Friday lunch, Club Chassee et Peche; Friday dinner - Mondavie (unless I find someplace else with Jazz) and Saturday night; Garde Manger (I have to wait until tomorrow to get a reservation there.) Eating at 9:30 is way too late for me. I was hoping to catch the fireworks on Aug 3rd but my husband isn't crazy about that idea! I will still see if I can get a reservation at APDC and go from there.

Do you agree with concierge's recommendations in Old Montreal?

Thanks again for the replies. I'm actually staying at the Auberge du Vieux Port so the recommendations now make sense!!

Trying to make reservations. Joe Beef is entirely booked during my stay unless I want to eat at 9:30PM. There is availability at Les 400 Coups. Has anyone had lunch at Club Chasse et Peche? We will be there on a Friday so thinking that could be a good way to keep costs down a little since we're splurging on the hotel. Emailed APDC for their availability. Trying do go to a more romantic restaurant for our actual anniversary.

Do you agree with concierge's recommendations in Old Montreal?

Thanks for your replies. I did find APDC!! We're in Montreal for 3 nights and I'm having a tough time chosing!! I'm not a very adventurous eater so some of the menus are "scary" for me!! We have no idea what we're doing during the day. Will spend out first day in Old Montreal since we don't arrive until the afternoon. The other days we'll head out to explore other parts. I was last in Montreal for the Olympics in 1976 while I was in high school. I do want to go see where the Games were to see what I remember. Other than that, I'm only planning our food!! Thanks for your help.

Do you agree with concierge's recommendations in Old Montreal?

Hello! I posted before for suggestions for our 15th anniversary dinner and got some great ideas. I'm curious though since all of the searching I've done does not really include the places recommended by our hotel's concierge in Old Montreal. She recommended: Aix Cuisine du Terrior, Boris Bistro, Modavie and Taverne Gaspar. Curious why that list is so different from other recommendations on this site.

I've narrowed my list down to: Club Chasse et Peche, Les 400 Coups, Restaurant Holder, Garde Manger, Joe Beef, Brasserie T Terrace. I've seen DNA and APDC on the boards but still trying to figure out what those stand for!

Thanks!

15th Anniversary in Old Montreal

Hello! We'll be in Old Montreal for 3 nights starting Aug 2nd for our 15th anniversary. Can't seem to find any events or festivals going on other than the finale of the International Fireworks Competition. I'm collecting names of restaurants on this site. My husband enjoys spicy foods while I do not. We're not interested in dressing up for a fine dining experience but do want to do something special on our anniversary. We're staying at the Auberge du Vieux Port. We do enjoy sitting outside over a glass of wine. I LOVE desert! Since it's only a month away, I'm thinking I need to make a reservation someplace. We do plan on exploring other parts of Montreal. Is there another restaurant area in the city that we should head to? Thanks!

Christmas Eve dinner Central Nj

Well, my family did go for dinner at the Metuchen Inn on Christmas Eve. We had an early reservation. We liked the food, but the service was not wonderful. Nothing awful, but nothing remarkable either. We would go back because of the convenience for us and the food that we had was good. Only one person complained that their portion was on the small side, but that was for fish.

Thanks for the responses. We made an 8pm reservation at Nano, but that could be too late. Looking for something along the lines of fine dining, like an Emerils or Wolfgang Puck quality. Already have a res for Wolfgang's. Upscale fish and steak. AM intrigued by what would be unique to Dallas!

Ideas for bday celebration in Georgetown for 8-9 people

Looking for a place to go to tonight with about 9 grad students in the Georgetown area. Could be 8 or 9 for dinner. Want a place that's fun for 21-25 year olds; but not rowdy crowd.

Casual fine dining....

Thanks for the ideas. I'll have to check availability. I also started checking out rooftop bar options for something totally different. Anyone eaten dinner at the Print restauant in Ink48? Think it would be fun to check out the Press rooftopbar but only if I'm not the oldest one there. Just turned 50!

Casual fine dining....

I've been searching and searching for a restaurant for our anniversary tomorrow in the $$$ range. Everything that I'm finding is dressy. It's supposed to be stormy in the afternoon tomorrow so I'd like to be able to be more casually dressed. My husband will be in khaki's and a collared shirt. We are very basic eaters. American, Italian, etc.... My husband's into steak and I enjoy pasta and some seafood. Any obvious choices come to mind? I don't want to bill to be over $200 including tax, tip and wine. We are going to a show first so don't want to go totally overboard! I originally posted trying to take advantage of Restaurant Week and some of those choices didn't pan out. Thanks!

Restaurant Week Restaurants

Oh, not sure about lunch or dinner yet. Might be lunch if we wind up doing a 3pm matinee. The other option is a sailing cruise at 7pm so that would be an early dinner but then rushed! The ship would leave down by the Southstreet Seaport if we did that. I will look up the restaurants that are mentioned here. Thanks!

Restaurant Week Restaurants

Hi! Planning going into the city this Sunday for my anniversary. Since restaurant week has been extended through the summer, has anyone gone to a "restaurant week participating restaurant" this summer? We were thinking of going to a matinee or sailing around Manhattan so we're not looking to get extremely dressed up. My daughter wants us to go to a Bobby Flay restaurant but I don't see them on the list! Thanks!
