The Taste 1/30.....ugh.....spoilt

LOL now I can't stop- she posted this on her facebook page 5 hours ago:

Getting on with life... and don't believe ANYTHING you saw on last night's episode of The Taste... they knew, they had constant contact with the PA dealing with me while I was OD-ing on whatever they slipped into my food or drink, I think my water actually... this is a complete scandal and deserves a legal review!!!

I guess the producers DRUGGED HER guys!!!

Her latest Yelp reviews/replies to them are kind of telling too (and they are from way before this show aired so I don't think they are fakes):

Trader Joe's Yay/Nay Thread - November 2013 [Old]

They were a pretty decent size- maybe around 8oz (but the glass bottles could be thick so maybe less than that)? The bottles also looked pretty- so they would make nice gifts. Definitely enough for the price, especially since I have a hard time using up specialty oils before they go bad.

Trader Joe's Yay/Nay Thread - November 2013 [Old]

Was at my TJ last night and saw 2 new "gift/holiday" items- a trio of nut oils- I think hazelnut, pistachio, and walnut for $15 and Himalayan truffle salt. I picked up the truffle salt because my last jar from a different source went bad after ~8 months. It seems good quality. Would like to pick up the oils eventually because they seem to be a good price.

Trader Joe's Yay/Nay Thread - March 2013 [OLD]

Yay- canned Minestrone soup. Very hearty and the vegetables are chunky and it doesn't look like "canned" soup.

Yay- spicy ramen- add some hoisin sauce, citrus, and some herbs and maybe some meat and it is actually not too bad of a quick/effortless "pho" craving substitute...

Trader Joe's Yea/Nay Thread - January 2013 [OLD]

NAY- Beef "Pho" (freezer section). I used quotation marks because this is a very far cry from Pho and in addition to that is just really tasteless. It's been about a year since I had it and every time I pass by it in the store I shake my head in disbelief it hasn't been pulled by now.

Lemons in the bag (produce)- as stated everyone seems to have hits/misses with their produce. I once bought a bag of lemons and left them on my counter in a bowl and 4 days later moved the bowl and all this "dust" flew up and I horrifyingly discovered all the lemons had gone SO bad that they had literally turned into a molded dust. EW. I was in the store yesterday and needed lemon for a recipe but left empty handed in that case because every lemon I investigated-bags and individual had some form of mold growing on them. I will pass on their produce from now on if those are their standards.

YAY- Israeli couscous. Just made this the other day and really enjoyed it. Very easy to prepare too.

New Minestrone soup- they were sampling this and it had tons of veggies and seemed like a much better version of canned soup than I have had Minestrone before.

Food trip to fukuoka and tokyo

This is a late reply, but I used to live in Fukuoka and they definitely have the best tonkotsu ramen-- there are tons of shops everywhere but for atmosphere plus great ramen I love going to the food stalls along the canal by Canal City in Nakasu.

Best Seasonal/Holiday Trader Joe Items.. to hunt for in 2012

I am not sure if they have had these before but it was the first time seeing them at my location-lots of goodies to put in gift baskets (or just get for yourself like I did!):

pack of 4 different flavored sea salts (edible flower, lemon and bay leaf, jerk, smoke)
black truffle infused olive oil
pack of 4 French mustards (all very good!)

all very reasonable prices too
