Moving to Herndon
No tequla but some good fresh mozzarella. I usually add extra vegetables (eggplant and red pepper)
Margherita is italian spelling but they have margarita on the web site.
They don't seem to be italian but make a pretty tasty pizza.
Moving to Herndon
A few more to add to the above:
PassionFish in Reston TC has a very reasonable happy hour
Thai Luang in Herdon - has some great thai duck dishes
Uptown Brick Oven Pizza - good margarita pizza
Uncle Julios in Reston TC, not great but good enough when I crave some Tex-Mex
I'm Leaving On a Jet Plane...
I would also add Rasika. I dont think you will find high end indian food in Houston.

Mokomandy has a deal on Living Social. I have been meaning to try this based on some good comments on this board.
4 days of food adventure - short trip report
I spent 4 great days in New York. I trolled the chowhound board for suggestions. So thank you for all the adviise:
Jean Georges: I went for the Classics Tasting Menu dinner last week. I had been to Jean Georges many years ago and remembered it as one of the best meals of my life. I am not sure if I am more jaded or just didn't enjoy some of the classics, During the first few courses the only one that wowed me was the egg caviar. The last few courses made up for it, the lobster and squab dishes had the layers of flavors and textures that put Jean Georges on my top restaurants list. I enjoyed that they served ½ glasses of wine.
Casa Mono: Sunday night was able to easily get a seat at the bar. Excellent food. Lobster with Spicy Sweet Potato and Agua de Coco: very good, lobster was tender in a light broth of sweet potato/coconut water. Pork belly with sunchoke and artichokes: excellent crispy pork belly hunks the artichokes and sunchokes were well seasoned with herbs. The Razor Clams looked excellent but I didn’t have room left.
Red Egg: Red Egg Shrimp Dumplings - Excellent, Home Town Savory Triangles - Very good. Durian Puff - okay but wouldn't order it again. I didn't enjoy the one item that was red bean and pork ( I can;t remember what it was called). Service a little standoffish but much better than your typical dim sum restaurant.
Tamarind: Executive lunch is a good deal, but overall I think I would have been happier ordering off the full menu. Seafood skewer and chicken were very good. Red snapper seemed overcooked.
Shanghai Café Delux: pork & crab XLB: the broth and filling were great, but the skins were thick and a little tough. Fried wontons were the best I have had with a good amount of tasty filling.
Ceci-Cela: Excellent price for great croissants. Plain croissant was crisp outside, nice and tender layers inside..almost a little too much butter left a slightly heavy after taste. Small chocolate croissant had a nice chocolate filling think and not too sweet.
Dominique Ansel: Kouign Amman was excellent but pricey, sort of a croissant cupcake with caramel drizzle.
Momofuku: I had stopped by the midtown location and the only thing they were not sold out of were some blueberry cookies. I ran into a booth at the Union Square Christmas markets.. and picked up a slice of crack pie. I could become addicted to this.
L'Arte Gelato: decent price and much better than store bought.. but my local gelato shop is better although costs more. I think for next trip I will try Grom. I remember loving some fig gelato from Grom in italy.
Two Little Red Hens: Excellent cheesecake.. perfect and I has been a long time since I have had any so good.

Jean Georges still amazing
I went for the Classics Tasting Menu dinner last week. I had been to Jean Georges many years ago and remembered it as one of the best meals of my life. I am not sure if I am more jaded or just didn't enjoy some of the classics,
During the first few courses the only one that wowed me was the egg caviar.
The last few courses made up for it, the lobster and squab dishes had the layers of flavors and textures that made me turn my opinion around.
I liked that they offered 1/2 glasses of wine. I was able to sample several wines and match them to the courses.

Have you tried brunch at Muse in the Corcoran?
It looks interesting but was hoping someone had some first hand experiences they could share.
Muse at Corcoran by Chef Todd Gray.
Taste of DC event starts today
I went on Saturday. Unfortunately they were not very organized (partially due to the protesters they said). They started over 1 hr late and many places still did not have their food.
I am really sorry I missed the octopus and pork belly .. they were one of the people who didn't have food.
I tried the Luke's lobster, and a nutella/strawberry crepe. Both of which I thought were good but overly pricey ($7.50 each). The Luke's lobster was about 1/3 or maybe less than a normal lobster roll - nice tender lobster. I forgot the vendor with the crepes - they were good but a little hard to eat.
Restaurant Week-August 2011
I went to Passionfish last night. They have all entrees as part of the restaurant week with only 2 with up charges.
I am trying Adour and Oval room over the weekend.
Dulles dining?
Thanks for the tip, i will have to try the spinach.
Padella has some restaurant.com deals that make it very very reasonable.
Dulles dining?
My favorites:
Passionfish - pretty expensive for dinner but worth it every once in a while. Very reasonable happy hour dishes.
Pitangos -excellent. (although doesnt avoid your sweets and fats)
Charcoal Kebab - just tried it recently. I thought the grilled meat was great. Veggies I was not thrilled with.
Padella - I have only been a few times. But I thought excellent fexpecially for a hotel restaurant. Nice place to sit at the bar. Dishes were interesting, fresh. Serving sizes were not too big - which is nice when you are travelling.
Restaurant Week-August 2011
Passionfish is great. Last time they offered all the entrees for the RW menu.
Visiting for the Fancy Food Show
when i tried to sign up it seems to be just for professionals.
can anyone attend?
Best DC upscale weekday lunch deal
Equinox looks great. I was also looking at Oval Room.
Best DC upscale weekday lunch deal
I will be downtown this Friday, and was looking for a nice upscale lunch. Somewhere where lunch is less expensive than dinner but gives me a chance to try something nice.
Thanks for any tips!
lookin' for fried crab claws in DC/VA/MD
The ones I am familiar with are sometimes called crab fingers. the crab claw is cracked - leaving the meat attached to the crab pincher. The part near the end shows the cracking of the claws.

Although I don't know how to make the breading. It is usually a crunchy cormeal based.
lookin' for fried crab claws in DC/VA/MD
That would be great if any one find them. They the fried blue crab claws were common in the Gulf region of texas also.

Best Chicken Fried Steak?
I was disappointed yesterday - my work cafe advertised chicken fried steak and instead it was country fried steak stewing in brown gravy.
Actually Chicken Fried Steak at IHOP is not terrrible.
New restaurant.com deals at some really great restaurants: $2 for $25 gift certificates
Thank you for the great tip!
I bought ones for El Manantial and Russia House in the Reston/Herndon area.
Are there any other tips for which good DC restaurants have ones available?
I didn't see Bistro Bis in the list - is there something I did wrong.
Cajun / Creole food in DC?
Cajun Experience that is in Leesburg is now opening another branch in DC. They said the soft opening was today I believe and the full opening in a few weeks.
DC Restaurant Week-January 2011
I have done 2 so far in the NoVA area:
Passionfish: excellent. They have a large variety of appetizers and all entrees were available (2 with small upcharges). Choice of 3 desserts. The crab corn chowder was very tasty - more variety of veggies than most. Crab Cakes were excellent - not too much filling and a little crispy on the outside.
Vinifera: It was a good excuse to try a restaurant that has been on my list a while. Unfortunately I was disappointed: Limited choices 2 apps, 2 salads, 2 entrees. The calamari was good but not great. The paella was so-so. Some of the seafood was very good (scallop and shrimp) but the main meat was very overcooked (sausage & gamehen).
"great food at lunch prices"
Adour does not have a lunch menu posted on their web site. Do you know prices and what sort of options they have?
good eating near Kennedy center
Kinkeads is a pretty close walk. Also there is a Kennedy shuttle to foggy bottom metro station.

XO Taste
I was also there over the weekend. I found the roast duck on rice ($7) with a nice crisp skin. I wasn't as fond of the chow fun - good but not great- but it was huge portion for $10
Pret a Manger is opening in Metro Center!
I really liked Pret when I was living in London. Fresh tasting interesting sandwiches and salads. Agree the problem with all premade is you can't pick and choose to leave off stuff. But I could always find a salad or sandwich that I liked; unless I came too late in the afternoon - they stock light since they don't carry products over 1 day.
