Dried Out Vanilla Beans

I have the same problem, less beans. Only four stragglers I didn't utilize to the fullest and now they're sad. Will I still get some golden goo if I put them in dark rum?

San Diego trip with kids--where to eat?

Hahaha ok I'll be careful to only ask Google for directions soas to not be mocked :P and the hotel says carlsbad/vista? Eh, it seems we'll end up driving but with an 8 month old being up before the sun is routine so we'll have time to get there :) any good coffee places along the way?? Thanks for the tips everyone :)

Bahahaha love it, yay! Thanks for the great ideas. We're doing the safari park and legoland the two days following this trip, any suggestions up that way? We're staying in a hotel closer to safari park...I wanna say its in like Carlsbad? Or something like that...

San Diego trip with kids--where to eat?

Thanks, I'm sure we'll end up doing lunch inside the park/zoo but I'm determined to find something else for dinner :) Any ideas for where to go eat by the beach? We're driving in early Tuesday so we want to stop and let the kids play/hang out by the beach for dinner that first night at least. Thanks for the ideas so far!

San Diego trip with kids--where to eat?

Hi all, we're planning a trip to San Diego with two little ones (4 yrs & 8months). We're staying at Comfort Suites near Mission Valley (on the map, it's right by highway 8 and another hwy, 168). We plan on going to the zoo one day and sea world another, staying 3 nights all together. Where are some good places to eat for cheap with little ones? Prefer not to drive too far, and happy hours would be a plus :) We'll be there Tuesday, Wed. & Thursday night. Thanks!

Another Paso Robles Winery Question (with specifics)

Sounds like a plan! And I did come home from Oso Libre with a bottle of white as well as 2 reds, great variety :) they also serve some awesome cheese and crackers with your wine, but there are tables all over the place so you could bring your picnic there even.

Restaurants recs for road trip down Central Coast with 2 kids?

Take the kiddos and your picnic fare to spyglass park :) its close to the deli and usually not crowded. Has an awesome little park overlooking the ocean, but no beach access unless you're a crazy surfer who doesn't mind scaling a cliff for a good wave (like my dad lol who took me to the park and told me of his night surfing exploits when I was a kid). We always take a sandwich and some fruit there to enjoy lunch before we get on the road. Have fun!

Another Paso Robles Winery Question (with specifics)

I'm from the central valley and we go wine tasting over there all the time. One of our recent favorites was Oso Libre, and if you like a pretty drive on the way this one will be great. They're way down winery drive and there are a bunch of others to stop at on the way if you like (I also love opolo, which is down the same road). We know the owners at Oso and they are so nice! It may be a bit crowded because of the festival, but you'll fund that everywhere and at even when they're busy they make everyone feel at home and the wines are definitely worth it!
