Taka versus Kanji: Which is better?

I like Taka, i ususally don't like non-traditional sushi rolls but I do like the ones at Taka. (Off topic but braised short ribs was the best thing on the menu though IMHO)

I went to Nemo's once and the sushi was probably the worst part of the meal. The sushi was not bad but the cooked dishes were way better than the sushi.

Still yet another Italian restaurant to open in Marlboro

I might be wrong but I think this place is a caterer and not a restaurant.

Sandwiches in Monmouth County

I know this is a sandwich thread but the fried chicken wings from Jersey Freeze is excellent.

overpriced dim sum at Peony Pavillion in Princeton

I think I was the one the posted about Dim Sum at Peony Palace. Thank you for taking one for the team.

So is it actually better than the dim sum you get in Sunny Palace?
Do they have a good variety of Dim Sum selection?

Kimchi & Sushi, Lincroft

i think it is more like a take out place since it is an extension of a farmer market.

Kimchi & Sushi, Lincroft

Sadly, I believe you are correct.
It's kind of hard to fathom that there is no Korean place in the stretch of Route 9 that span from Sayreville to Freehold...

Five Guys, Broad St/35 Shrewsbury, NJ

Just my observation...
I think a couple years ago, their "gimmicks" of "fresh cut on premise Idaho potato fries", "fresh beef delivered to store daily", "free toppings" etc made it a unique fast food place for a little while .
But shortly after, McD put out their "premium" burgers and there are places like Bobby Burger Palace and Smashburgers pop up.
So now if you want a decent cheap burger, you can get one at McDonalds and if you want better ones, you go the BBP and Smashburger type place which put 5guys in no man's land...

Five Guys, Broad St/35 Shrewsbury, NJ

I think the so-called "hype" with Five Guys has been over for a while. Just like everyone is saying, after a going there once or twice there is really no point of going back there... unless you really really like free shelled peanuts.

New sushi place in Manalapan?

Just went to the website.
yamasushimanalapan.com

Adult price for AYCE is $25
They are charging lunch price for kids ($16) for AYCE which is ridiculous.
So if my wife and I bring my 2 kids (4 & 6 years old) i am going to pay $82 pre-tax, tips, and drinks. I would gladly drive another 5 minutes north to Tokyo Sushi buffet or head over to one of the Sushi Palace where kids eat free.

Peony Pavilion - Princeton Junction (formerly Sunny Garden / Hanami)

Are the food any good? Is it better than a lunch box from a typical japanese place?

Peony Pavilion - Princeton Junction (formerly Sunny Garden / Hanami)

In one of those free Chinese magazine i picked up from Asian Food market this weekend, this place is going to start serving dim sum on 1/25 which is the past weekend.

Checked out the website and this place definitely looks different. The prices on the menu are kind of high and looks gimmicky... not sure how much they will charge for the dim sum.

New sushi place in Manalapan?

i would assume this will be another non-Japanese owned Japanese place and serve the default Japanese menu (like Mahzu). I would be glad if I am wrong.

Where to eat in/near Cherry Hill on a Tuesday night?

There is also a SangKee noodle house near Han Dynasty.
http://www.sangkeenoodlehouse.com

It's like a better version of China Bowl in Edison.

I haven't been to but Fuji in nearby Haddonfield supposed to be a very good Japanese restaurant.

Sunny Palace East Brunswick .... or a plea for Chinese food

i agree with that... especially when a dim sum meal supposed to be a brunch where you relax, enjoy the tea, read the paper (or phone/tablet nowadays). Wonder Seafood has the worst location despite having the best food. With two young kids, i just have no interest in going there for Dim Sum... selfishly, I wish they can swap location with Crown Palace

Sunny Palace East Brunswick .... or a plea for Chinese food

Dim Sum at both Crown Palace and Sunny Palace are fine (just want to add CP's dinner was awful the last time i went) but it just not something I would crave for, nothing surprising or new... it's been the same exact thing with no variations or improvement .... so i guess i am just tired of it.

So it's really just a preference for me to go to noodle houses or Sichuan places when given the choice.

Sunny Palace East Brunswick .... or a plea for Chinese food

I have pretty much given up on Dim Sum in central NJ. I agree Wonder Seafood is the best of the bunch.
It seems that decent Sichuan food and noodle houses (Taiwan/Shanghai style) are popping up all over the place, so i am shifting my attention to them instead of dim sum.

Vietnam Bistro in Howell, NJ

Went here last night. I think it was my third time here.
It was very enjoyable as usual.
Ordered their chicken wing appetizer. It was deep fried panko crusted and come with a mayo/sriraccha mix dip. Liked it a lot.
Also tried a grill vermicelli with beef dish (D4). It's probably one of my favorite Vietnamese dish.
The 2 bowls of Pho were good usual.

Give this place a try if you are in the mood for Vietnamese.

On the bright side, at least it's not an Italian restaurant.

Big decision! Agricola or Mistral?

Never been to Mistral but did enjoy Agricola the one time we were there.
Also with the "small plate" format, i felt Mistral is more suitable for lunch - just my 2 cents.

Anyone interested in a Serious Sichuan Crawl ?........

This is definitely not for me... i don't think my digestive system can handle 3 Sichuan meals within the same day.

New Mexican restaurant coming to Marlboro

what time did you get there? i drove by around 5 pm and it looks like the parking lot at the back is at least 3/4 full.
Sounds like a nice kid-friendly option in our area that is not Italian.

Unrelated to Hearthstone Grill but I think I saw a small Mexican restaurant around that area as well on 522. Anyone notice that as well?

good dim sum near princeton? nonexistent??

I think you really have to travel to Edison and East Brunswick to get decent dim sum. Sunny Palace in EB and Wonder Seafood on Rt 27, Edison are probably your best bet. Wonder has the better dim sum IMO but Sunny Palace is a nicer place (cleaner, better parking situation).
Don't want to dampen your enthusiasm for dim sum but don't expect the dim sum to be great. they are decent but they are really as you as what you used to get in NYC. They are decent but don't expect too much.

Also, you can skip Crown Palace in Marlboro. I live 15 minutes away and still rather drive further for dim sum. Also, Crown Palace dinner service is simply pathetic.

BTW, what about Philly Chinatown? I don't know what to recommend there but I would assume you would have more choices for dim sum and it is not such a long drive to get there. And you'll have more to do after your meal. just a thought.
