Help me pick a steakhouse

I ate at Porter House earlier this year and was thoroughly underwhelmed. The room is nice but it didn't have the energy of Del Frisco and I didn't think the steak was nearly as good as Wolfgang's. Food was better than the trendy steakhouses like STK and Abe and Arthur's but I I doubt I would return.

FInally got Per Se reservations! What should I know?

Last time I went it was a few years ago. They called me a few days before our reservation to see if there were any special dietary needs. My mother in law does not eat meat but does eat fish. So they said they would do the veggie tasting meal for her but would substtute some courses with fish. My wife is jewish so no pork./shellfish - no problem they said.

Short answer is they will go out of their way to accomodate you. Be prepared - it took us 4 hours to eat.

And after dessert, there are like 3 more "Extra desert courses" that just keep coming.

near Lincoln Center/berfore Nutcracker

I always go to Fiorello's after the opera. From the outside, it looks like a tourist trap. Food is solid and full of diners from lincoln center. Pasta Bolognase is fantastic. Also, for desert, try the chocolate mouse and whip cream. They literally bring out a pot of both mouse and whip cream and scoop it onto a plate for you. To honest, it could feed 4 normally people. I usually go with my wife and we force ourselves to not eat the second half of it as it it just too rich. The first half is thoroughly enjoyable.

PLEASE HELP very confused on where to eat Daniel, Per se, EMP, Le bernd etc

per se is an amazing experience. Chef Kelleher has done a great job of combining california casual with NYC distinction. I don't know anybody who has eaten there and not set it was the best meal they have had in NYC and usually the entire country (except for French Laundry).

If you really love fish and seafood, you should go to Le Bernadain. If you just short of like fish and seafood, then skip it. The mean is 90% fish/seafood and at the end says "Also available, Lamb, beef, chicken". I found Le Bernadin to stuff and corporate, but just my tastes. I have a friend who love fish and seafood and says this is one of his top 2 in NYC.

My personal favorite in NYC is Daniel. It is a little more uptight and Per Se (But the recent renovation makes it feel less so). IMHO, food at Daniel is better than Per se.

Critique my eating itinerary - Early Nov

If you are staying downtown, try Demi Monde at the corner of Stone and Broad. Fantastic cocktails. It just opened this summer. Although it is in financial district, it feels totally LES.

Help me pick a steakhouse

Depends what your are looking for. I think Wolfgangs has the best steak in NYC. None of their locations have much of a fun vibe but the steak is the best in NYC. If you are looking for a chain Del Frisco and Capital Grill are good - nothing amazing but solid choices and you know what to expect. I quit going to Morton's many years ago b/c the space was so dated.

If you want a fun trendy scene with lots of beautiful people, try STK or Abe & Arhur's in meatpacking district. Steak is not all that good but if you are looking for a cool scene and don't care about the quality of steak, the are fun places.
