Chouinard St. Pete - anyone been?

i had a lovely meal there. Be sure to make reservations - the place is small and there is no where to wait if you arrive unannounced. The restaurant is in a strip mall (but this is Florida so everything's in a strip mall.) There is a real effort to be creative without being whacky. I wish I could recall more of what I had - I just remember thinking it was above average and that it was obvious how much care went into the prep. Enjoy.

Sacramento Mexican Restaurant

Yes, that's it. Thank you. I checked their menu on line - and the Big David is still there. I appreciate our help.

Sacramento Mexican Restaurant

I'm looking for the name and location of a Mexican restaurant in Sacramento that served a dish called The Big David. It's been years since I've been in Sacramento and I'll be visiting soon and would love to have a Big David again. Any help would be appreciated.

Swoonable Sandwich in St. Pete

First a confession, I am a lover of all things porcine. Thus when the menu says "toasted, roasted pork sandwich - roasted pork with onions and mayo served on a toasted bun," I need read no further. Two trips to Baby Cakes Cafe on Central Avenue have me convinenced that someone in the kitchen shares my pig fetish. Obviously slow roasted with just a hint of garlic this sandwich had me planning a return trip after my first bite. A bargain at $5.95 it arrives with a generous helping of chips. Now I just have to figure out a way to justify eating pork 5 days a week. Sorry I can't comment on any of their other offerings, but if you go for the pork sandwich you won't be disappointed.

St Pete Beach FL

Thanks for the report. So often we don't know if our recommendations work out for visitors to our area. Sounds like a pretty good dining trip overall. Y'all come back.

Cuban - Floridian on Treasure Island
Tapas - Ceviche in downtown St. Petersburg
Dig-in seafood - Mid-Peninsula Seafood on 49th Street in St. Petersburg
Blow out dinner - Maritana in the Don Cesar

I'm not so sure I'd recommend Caddy's for their food. Drinks on the beach yes, food not so much.

I want to like Tampa/Clearwater, but I don't. Please help.

Re: Pho Quyen - better call first. I heard they were closed.

Girls' weekend in St. Petersburg

I agree with all of Old E's rec's. I'd also add Skidders for excellent seafood about 4 blocks from your hotel.
For getting around on the beach try the free shuttle at: www.gogreenatthebeach.com. You need to call ahead for a reservation, but it's fun and free (gratutity notwithstanding.)

Local Tampa Bay Foodies Its time we define the best of the bay the Hound way!

I think this is a great idea, but maybe a clue as to location. I was able to Google Cuban Delight, but j. walinski's recommendation of Cody's has me trying to decide on a couple of locations.
