Seven Sows Bourbon and Larder, Asheville
Brunch On Sunday Four of us went on Sunday around noon The restaurant was quite empty Service was very good Three of the group had pancakes Small Stack $5 Large stack $7 comes with a very generous side of Bacon- which was a sweet and wonderful taste. They recently updated the Brunch Menu Lowered the price of Pancakes from $13 Added some dishes like fried chicken and two omelette dishes I had the crayfish and onion with just a hint of cheese This was the smallest omelette you have ever seen It was like having a one egg dish. Charged $8 and it came with nothing Toast extra, Potatoes extra .It was outragerous compared to the pancake and bacon prices and other dishes on the menu Still would return , especially for a try at Dinner

Magnolia Ray- Woodfin,NC(Asheville)
Actually, we went to Magnolia Ray last night. We had rice and beans and the special Magnolia Hamburger both were very good . The Hamburger was cooked to order and was very special, the orzo pasta salad was served too cold. They need better sides and the menu needs more dishes -quite limited -but I am confident that this will improve over time Service was excellent. I think this establishment shows great promise and hope they succeed . This could be a great addition to the North Asheville-Weaverville area. GOOD LUCK to the Kaufman's

Vinnie's-Asheville Part Two
I attended a small (5 of us)birthday party last week at Vinnie's in North Asheville I was quite surprised to witness such a busy restaurant on a Thursday night. I guess people are obviously excited about this place We started the evening with appetizers consisting of Pasta Fazool and Bruschetta. The Pasta Fazool was delicious, whole bodied and with generous amounts of ingredients. One of the better ones I've had in a long long time The Brushetta , instead of the usual ingredient of tomatoes, was made from mushrooms This dish was outstanding and was the highlight of the evening. Incredible. Main Courses followed. " Italian garbage salad." It was filled with luscious slices of ham, Greek olives, cheese, veggies, hot peppers ... oh, all those things that make one want more - more ... and there was stacks of it. Satisfying and healthy. Salmon Gratella-- Salmon cooked to perfection and the spinach and mashed potatoes proved nice complements Penne alla Vodka with pancetta, sautéed red onions and vodka cream sauce was well flavored and cooked al dente Veal Piccata with lemon-caper butter garlic sauce was, in my opinion, a great dish and reminded me how good veal can be. So many restaurants overcook this dish - not Vinnies The service was friendly and competent. Great Staff Being raised in the Bronx ,and near Arthur Ave, where the best "neighborhood" Italian restaurants in New York are found Vinnie's would be in good company This is one great eating establishment and to think we are fortunate to have Vinnie's in Asheville I will be back again and again

Asheville: Mr. Frog's Soul and Creole Kitchen (Market St downtown)
At the suggestion of a friend, we tried Mr Frogs , I can not give this restaurant higher praise for excellent food and quality for the reasonable prices. We had Beef short ribs and chicken and dumplings Great food and great side dishes, mac and cheese, Cole slaw, corn bread and collard greens OUTSTANDING Ribs, they were so moist and flavored beyond any I have ever had My hubby just loved the chicken and dumplings . Moist and tasty This place is the best restaurant that has come on the Asheville dining scene for many months Great quality food at very reasonable prices We will frequent this restaurant . Hope they succeed

Just a short report- Ate at both Plant and Laughing Seed Plant was ,in my opinion, really bad tasting food(inedible) and the Vegans agreed Laughing Seed,on the other hand, was FABULOUS Low Country roll ups was outstanding Very Ample portions More reasonable pricing then Plant All five of us LOVED Laughing Seed

Plant looks like everyone's choice. When I look at their Menu online it seems they have only six choices for Dinner Entrees Laughing Seed seems like more variety
