Born and raised in the PNW but haven't been back in almost 4 years (!) While visiting my new niece and nephew, I would love to find a u-pick farm with organic produce. My girlfriend wants to learn to can, and we thought we could make a day of it with the kids. Looking for any farm within an hour or so that is kid friendly and has something to u-pick. I've checked on the local harvest website but a lot of the info was out dated and thought I might be able to get a better answer on here. She lives in the Graham area and I will be making the trip Late July- mid August.
We're new to Maryland and looking for some specialty food shops. I would love to get some input on where to go in the area. We live in Mays Chapel (Lutherville area), are close to Towson and fairly close to Baltimore.
Our current store of choice is Mom's Market, which I can't say enough good things about for our weekly grocery shopping... however I'm looking for some International/ Gourmet type stores to get those special ingredients.
I'm always on the lookout for a great Mexican market (as my husband is Mexican) to buy fresh chorizo, dried chilies, and conchas.
I would love to find a seafood market to buy FRESH fish and shellfish. I've been to Wegmans, Whole Foods and Fresh Market and I've been a little less then impressed. I'm from Seattle and I've heard the east coast has some pretty amazing seafood, but I'm guessing I just haven't found it?
I would also love to find a specialty food market that sells things like, orange blossom water, rose water, espresso powder, and maybe some traditional Italian or French ingredients.
I've also recently gotten into making homemade cheese. I buy most of my supplies offline but a source for rennet and other cheese making tools, ingredients, and supplies would be great. I also hear raw milk is illegal here? Is this true?
Any info would be much appreciated!
