Indigo's Profile
Out of Print Books
Sadly I won't be back for a while. Is there any chance the bookstore would send it? I know that Gandhi does so, both promptly and reliably.
I had thought you might be involved and lucky you are though I imagine some parts were head-breakers. It's a significant work, joyous to use.
Let me know what to do , if anything, given that I'm glued to this spot.
Out of Print Books
YES!!
I know about the recetarios but I've never seen them. What's the bookstore?
I'd be totally pleased to come pick them up especially if the flight is included in the $100, otherwise I'm locked in for a while, so discouraging.
Do you know who did the English? though I'd rather have the Spanish, or both. Imagine having a choice!
Out of Print Books
By any wild chance does anyone have a copy of Ricardo Munoz Zurita's Diccionario enciclopedico de gastronomia mexicana that they no longer really want or never really used? I know it is both scarce and out of print but nevertheless I've looked for it far and wide, for years. I'm not one of the lucky ones who found it, say, in the museum gift store at Santo Domingo. Most recently I searched up and down Donceles, in the used bookstores, which was a lot of fun, but to no avail. Over the years, I've interlibrary loaned it but now I find that fewer and fewer libraries are allowing it to circulate. Anyone?
Dulce Patria
We look forward to eating at Dulce Patria & are hoping to combine it with other things. What's the dress code?
Cuernavaca and Taxco
My the surprises that are hidden in these boards! Cristina, how about taking Chavela Vargas, I don't know, warm socks and chocolates? a murmur of gratitude? from another loooong time admirer?
Azul Condesa or Azul y Oro?
How about R. Monte Cristo? I rarely hear anyone mention it yet a couple of years ago a friend raved about the food-place-service. It's on Insurgentes N, near the Indios Verde metro stop, not an easy location I suppose.
Where to eat in Tlateloco?
Now that would be a pleasure! We haven't got exact dates, etc. just yet, but soon.
Where to eat in Tlateloco?
Do you order by weight at La Hidalguense? If so, how much would be about right for two, esp if not starving?
Where to eat in Tlateloco?
Very helpful, thanks Cristina. Have you ever tried La Oveja Negra?
Where to eat in Tlateloco?
We'll be in Mexico City in early March and are extremely pleased to hear about the Dr Atl show in Tlateloco. Any suggestions for places to eat that are nearby? Street food, fondas, restaurants, doesn't matter as long as it is very good.
Azul Condesa or Azul y Oro?
Thanks. I actually wanted to know which location has the better kitchen. I'd heard that Azul y Oro was better, more reliable, and wondered if that was true, or still true.
Azul Condesa or Azul y Oro?
We'll be in Mexico City in early December. In the past, I've heard a lot about Azul y Oro from friends so it is high on my list. I've only read about Azul Condesa which sounds great too. Which is better? Are reservations needed at both or only Azul Condesa?
Tejate
Can anyone recommend a safe place (ie clean water) to drink tejate in Oaxaca City? I haven't been there since 1994 (!) and am not sure my old spots are still there. Any recos for chocolate de metate or early morning memelas would be welcome too.
Christmas Tamales
A little OT but there is Hoja Santa at Rancho Mendoza today. Large fresh healthy...more in the back in none out front.
