So we went to Riviera Restaurant & Lounge, 23683 Calabasas Road, Calabasas, 818-224-2163. Service was unobtrusive and efficient. I ordered the same dishes I've ordered at Guido's both because I like them and for a comparison, heirloom tomato & burrata salad then lobster ravioli. No comparison. At Riviera tomatoes had a mealy texture and not much flavor whereas they tasted Farmers' market at Guido's. Also burrata much gooier and tastier at Guido's. Lobster ravioli tasted as though they were prebought in a packet at Riviera and sauce only OK. Finished the whole plate (even though it was too much for me) as I couldn't stop eating at Guido's. Dessert had pluses and minuses at both places. Different atmosphere, very friendly service at both (Guido's server was not wine knowledgeable). However I know which one I'll be going back to. Guido's Address: 23536 Calabasas Road, Calabasas, CA 91302
Phone: (818) 222-6969

I like Saddle Peak a lot though a little more $$ and a little far for this outing,

Thanks Betcom and carter. Looks like we'll try Riviera and let you know what we liked.

BTW, I searched the site and didn't find anything too current. I've eaten twice at Guido's - friendly service, nice seating at the bar, outside in front (tables under the trees) and in the restaurant. Yummy burrata salad and lobster ravioli. Desserts not my favorite (I'm not a fan of sweet) but if you are try the lemon cake.

need a good place to eat with about 8 gourmet girlfriends. Nice but not OTT. Ideas? Thinking of Guido's because it's the only one I know but would love other suggestions.
