Bakesale Betty- Fried chicken sandwich, am I missing something?

BSB is on my favorites list and I really love the Chicken with that yummy crunchy spicy slaw. Can't say I'm that fond of all the bread in sandwiches in general. Unless the bread is phenomenal it just seems like empty carb filler. I always order the Fried Chicken Salad and a Ginger Cookie.

I find BSB very consistent and they go out of their way to insure the customer is happy with their experience. I can tell you a BSB story that will knock your socks off and proves their dedication to service and their customer. If it isn't right speak up so they can improve and make it right.

Frozen Yogurt, what's in this crack?

I like many really enjoy this Frozen Yogurt craze. Can anyone tell me what's in this stuff and how or where it's made? I need to go into Yoppi and ask about these details.

Straits Cafe

Joy Luck is the best. Consistently fresh Dim Sum every time. Worth the trip and worth the wait.

SF - BellaTrattoria?

I just had dinner at Bella Trattoria as I live in the 'hood and didn't feel like asian food. I wouldn't go back. Bread was as stated earlier, wonder bread with crust. We had the meatballs and they were as bland as could be in a pool of cheap olive oil. We had the Squid Ink Pasta and the Norcino, both were so bland there was nothing you could do to improve them. The pasta in the mushroom dish was horrible and if you can't cook pasta at an italian restaurant you might as well throw in the towel.

Suggestion, run over to Pomodoro where you will have better food consistently for half the price.

Such a shame.

Straits Cafe

We were very excited to visit the Straits in Burlingame on Friday night. It was our first experience at the Straits chain. The place was really busy and we waited about 45 minutes for a table which was fine. Once seated, we couldn't help but notice how loud the music was and how it was nearly impossible to hear anyone speak at your own table. This could be good if you don't want to be eaves dropped on at dinner.

We ordered the Tuna Tower, Garlic Fies and Squid for appetizers. The Tuna was very good, fries as well. The Squid was so over cooked it was crispy all the way through.

We then ordered the Garlic Noodles, Sea Bass and Duck Capitan as recommended by our very attentive server. We waited and then the Garlic Noodles arrived alone and we continued to wait. We finally decided to share the noodles as the second dish (sea bass) didn't arrive for 10 minutes and then the duck another 20 minutes later.

We had to say that the only good dish was the garlic noodles, The Sea Bass was way too sweet and lacking in any high notes (ginger, tamarind, lemon grass). The Duck which was recommended by the server ended up being really bad with some off putting sauce with no clear distiguishable flavor and the duck was mushy and fatty. The Chef came over because we expressed our displeasure with the duck only after the server told us he had never tasted it before. The Chef seemed put out by the comments, but kindly took the entree off our bill. The front-end manager was extremely cordial even amidst a very busy Friday night crowd wanting to either dance or eat with their family and friends.

Bottom Line, we feel Straits is challenged. They are trying to do to much in one space and menu and personally feel they should choose one raison d'etre. The price points are high dining, the atmosphere is club nouveau. While I'm sure there are lots of people willing to be numbed to death by loud music and distraction, at high prices. By the looks of the diners, they didn't look the type. All in all the experience caused an upset stomach and disappointment.
