Just got back 2 weeks ago and here's what we experienced while dining with a 3 year old and a 5 month old:
1. Had reservations for lunch and dinner for each day we spent in Paris and I had to cancel most of them as it was really hard to stick to a schedule with kids
2. Ate at the following places: Chez Denise, La Regalade (highly recommended), Pirouette (highly recommended), and Carpe Diem Cafe (highly recommended). These places are not "typical" family friendly restaurants but the staff made us feel welcome and even doted on the kids.
3. With that said, we ensured that the toddler would have something to keep her quiet and busy (an ipad) and the baby just slept. If she fussed, we took her outside until she settled down. Our older daughter just ate whatever we ordered from the regular menu.
Overall, I would agree with the other posters who say that in general, you can eat almost anywhere as long as your child can sit through the meal without being bothering others around them.

1. Just to show her tolerance for "sitting though things", she actually sat through the while 3 hours of the most recent Spiderman and Batman movies. Why she was watching such "adult" oriented movies? Well, that's another story!

2. I think my daughter will be ok sitting through 2 hour meals as she often does that and sometimes we take her to dinner with business clients. As long as she has something to write on or has a smart phone to tinker with, she will sit quietly and eat from my degustastion plate!

I do plan to take her and her sister out for some air if necessary. I have issues with parents who don't take responsibility for their kids.

Finally, we are practicing our Bonjour Monsieur/Madame, Merci Beaucoup, Au Revoir, and Sil vous plait constantly and I'm hoping she can charm her way into the restaurant.

I feel for your predicament as I have spent the last month reading every conceivable Paris blog/website that offered advice on where and how to eat with kids. I am staying in the 1st district so I have been looking for places around the 6 and 7th as well. I am leaving for Paris this Sunday and should be able to give more feedback on my return.

Based on my research (blogs, tripadvisor, yelp) the following (in the 1st, 6th, and 7th) are considered "child-friendly" and "should" also have decent food:

Le Comptoir du Relais, La Regalade, Claus, Cafe inside Bonpoint Flagship store, Le pain Qoutidien, Cafe Musee, Le Cafe Suedois, La Baline (in Musee des Plantes), Bistrot des Comperes, La Tartine, BDJ Cafe, Cafe Panis, Creperie Beaubourg, Breizh, Le Pave, Au Diable Des Lombards, Zango Les Halles, L'autobus Imperial, Cafe Marly, Carette, La Fresque, La Fermette Marbeuf (have a kids menu), Brasserie Thormieux, and the restaurant inside Musee D'orsay (50 euro set for dinner but they have kids menu).

I didn't specifically look for places that had a kids menu but I figured that if they had one, then they must tolerate kids.:)

Finally, not sure how you feel about mobile devices but the Ipad or smart phones were great tools that entertained our daughter when she was a 2 year old toddler.

We are going on our first "food" trip to Paris in 2 days and we are going with our 2 girls ages 3 and 5 months (plus my mom and father in law). After reading countless blogs about dining etiquette and dining with kids in Paris, I've made reservations for the following restaurants below.

Lunch:
Da Rosa, Les Papilles, La Regalade, Les Papilles, Aux Tonneus les Halles, Breizh Cafe, Pirouette Les Halles

Dinner:
Le Tastevin, Chez Dumonet,Au Petit Sud Quest, Au Bourguignon, Robert et Louise, L'ange 20

Let me set the context for the kids. My 3 year old is very mature and joins us regularly at fine dining restaurants. She has a very adventurous palate and loves fois gras, caviar, sashimi, and will eat anything that tastes good (including fish cheeks and even the eyes!). My 5 month old..well, she's 5 months old so all she really does is stare, grasp, feed, then sleep. Thus, my choices above none of which are Michelin* and too stuffy but overall, I think they are solid establishments with good reputations.

Am I crazy to think that I can have a gastronomically delightful dinner with the family or I am more likely to get stares of disdain from the waiters and/or patrons who do not welcome kids (even well behaved ones.)

Ps. We don't mind sitting at a back room by the kitchen/toilet, as long as it doesn't smell. :)
