Sustainable, totally edible Hors D'oeuvres

I'm trying to think of new and creative ways to present hors d'oeuvres that will have no waste or need for a tool - i.e. no skewers, toothpicks, etc. or any need for a cup, shotglass, demispoon, etc.

Most HDs need some sort of way to be picked up, and I am trying to think of ideas. I know there is the obvious rosemary stem skewer or lemongrass skewer. I've been using filo bowls and started making savory edible spoons from cracker dough and a spoon cookie cutter, using long, flat plaintain chips as a "spoon" of sorts to serve things like coconut crusted scallops, and wrapping bits of tenderloin in orange zest stuffed dough then baking it so it's a neat little package. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Irish Mist Carrots

Does anyone know of a recipe for Irish Mist Carrots? A friend of mine told me about it, something her Grandmother used to make for Irish feasts... Thanks!

Dessert & Blanc De Noir Pairing

Hello - I am working on a menu and would like to find a bitter-sweet/dark chocolate dessert to be paired with a Blanc de Noir or rose sparkling wine.

I want this to be an "interactive" dessert as I will have a chef manning this - so don't want something simple as dark chocolate truffles. It needs to be something that the chef will have his "hands on" for the guest, but it doesn't need to be too over the top. For example, my milk chocolate dessert will be a manned table with a chef dipping driscoll strawberries in milk chocolate and my semi-sweet chocolate station will be a chef pouring merlot or syrah syrup on semi-sweet chocolate brownie bites each time a guest requests one.

Many many thanks for your help in advance!!

Around the World Martini Bar

I'm throwing an around the world hors d'oeuvres party for some friends this next weekend with stations to include the following:

Arabian Nights
A La Provence
Antipasti Dell'Italia
Asian Influence
Nuevo Latino
America The Beautiful
Bombay Palace

I would like to do an "Around the World" Martini Bar, one martini to represent each cuisine. Do you have any suggestions - I'd like to make them interesting and something that you don't see everywhere!

Thanks!!

Edible Tie

I am trying to create a sweet "purse" with brie, rasberry preserves and pecans, similar to a thai golden purse that is tied with a chive. I am looking for a tie to create the purse but obviously do not want to use a chive as it will not fit with the flavors I'm using. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks!

Yuzu

I've recently heard of Yuzu - I love citrus and heard it is a very tart fruit similar to a lime. I'm looking for a dessert that I can use Yuzu for - any suggestions? Thanks!

Tacos

I am throwing a Nuevo Latino themed party and am having a "taco" bar. Does anyone have any ideas for fillings - I'm looking for more upscale/interesting ideas than the typical seasoned beef, shredded iceberg and grated cheddar!

Pimm's Cup

How do you make the Pimm's Cup with bitter lemon? I've heard tons of different recipes... Do you use cointreau? Do you garnish?

Thanks!

Funky Soups

You are correct - not really a shooter! I'd do it w/demi spoons but now am thinking of doing a mashed potato parfait instead (in martini glasses)!

"Eclectic" Hors D'oeuvres

I'm working on a menu for a cocktail party and I want to come up with "eclectic" ideas that I can present in a really funky way. I'm getting ceramic tasting dishes for some, doing a soup shooter, chinese soup spoon scallop etc. I am looking for a Duck hors d'oeuvre... any ideas??
