What did I miss?
Have you considered "the neighbour: Mexico"? We expererienced an extraordinairy high quality meal, paired with wonderfully trained waiters and a most charming interior:
La Diffencia in TJ, Mexico, take trolley, walk accross the border, get into taxi and within 10 min you are there; remember that in Mexico lunch is the main meal and they stay open UNTIL you and your party have finished enjoying your lunch (which we did not know but we are very slow enjoying eaters and finished around 16.00h..) have FUN!
