dim sum downtown - Forestview vs Rol San?
Rol San vs OTHERS = USA vs Canada in basketball
ATTENTION RAMEN LOVERS!
I've been there once and the ramen is not the one I used to in Japan. It dosen't mean they are not good. In fact, I like it because the broths is so tasty and you don't feel MSG at all. For ramen, all about is the broth and ramen itself.
Good hotpot downtown
I check that place last weekend again and their menu has been changed. Thay are now serving hot pot buffet which is usually I don't like it. Since my last eating experience was good, we decided give it a shoot.
I found their beef is surprising good (very marbled) and they have a lot of meat balls I haven't seem them before. The most impressed my wife is the comfort level. (which is I didn't aware of) If you look at from the outside, you may think this is just a typical Chinatown's restruant, dirty and packed. Once you get in, you will find youself in a different world.
By the way, they are located at Dundas st east, one block east of Spadina, called Hot Pot on Dundas, which is the same place as Queen bakery. They have a dinning room at basement level but I saw some people dinning at bakery level as well.
ATTENTION RAMEN LOVERS!
It is a very delicious meal, just one thing I would like to find to substitue is the instant nood le. Maybe something like frozen ramen.
Best Dim Sum in Kengington Market?
I hope more people going to suggest other places than Rol San because they are already packed.
Salad King - still OK?
suprising question. are we talking about the same Salad King? The one I know is around Yonge and Dundas, fully packed during luch and dinner and tastewise - nothing worth to say.
Jamie kennedy wine bar
I have been there once. Plates are small and I just wondering are they still running different menu on different day? Is about time to revisit.
Chinese Buffet Recommendations
Give Gensis a try. I don't like it (because I don't like buffet) but some of my friend do. It is at Victoria Park and McNicol.
Chinese Buffet Recommendations
You can't find good quality Chinese food in all-you-can-eat style.
Good hotpot downtown
Try the one on Dundas street west. (1 block east of Spadina) I have been there 2 times. The quality of meet is excellent. Last time I went there, the table sat beside me is a group of 4, I believe they are their regalar or friends of the owner. I heart the waiter/owner recommend a good quality of AAA beef to them. I saw they are very marbling pieces. Unforntunately I already full and I will definte try next time and will report back.
STARFISH
I have exactly the same experience as yours. Without repeat one more time, I know some (may be all) of their oyster are coming from Diana's.
Best dumpling place (better than mother's, dumpling house, and chinese traditional bun)
thank you for saving me an hour.
Little Sheep Hot Pot - reviews/rec's anybody?
I see your point. They have too few choices from the soup.
Little Sheep Hot Pot - reviews/rec's anybody?
I don't have the exact address, it is at one block east of Spadina on the north side of Dundas. Hope that can help. Liu Liu was my favorite when they first open but the quality is going south after the original owner gone. Also, you can easy to see the quality of meat since they are all rare. You can't cheat at all.
Dim Sum in Downtown Toronto
Rol sun is good and the price is resonable. Pearl is as good as Lai Wah Hen and they are pricy too.
Little Sheep Hot Pot - reviews/rec's anybody?
I try both location and the service is crap. Food is ok but the service ruin my day. Rolling pot is much worst. I got the steam come back from the roof to my pot, it is so disgusting..........
I think Queen Hot Pot at Chinatown on Dundas st. own my vote now.
HK style milk tea
Ming's is so so. 2 places I would recommend but I haven't try them for a while since I am not a big fan of HK milk tea, I know these place because my uncle are milk tea drinker and of course they are from HK. One is at the conner of Middlefield and McNicoll, the other one is at Midland & Sheppard, but not the bakery shop at Dragon Court.
Best dumpling place (better than mother's, dumpling house, and chinese traditional bun)
LOL.
Whether the taste is good or not is not depend on where is the owner born nor the chef, I am not saying Ma's better or Xin's better because those are far from a good resturant in my mind.
Sunday baptism brunch for 50 people - Dim Sum
You can't find one at downtown except those pricey resturant. But if you can go north, a lot of good choices along Hwy 7 with a resonable price.
If you go east to Scar., not many choices neither. The best bet is 'Fair ...' (forgot the name), it is located at Finch Ave. & Milliken (1 brock east of Kennedy).
Chinatown - Let's seperate the winners from the losers
Dim Sum: I would say Rol San no doubt, except the one is already closed (I forget the name but it is just south of Rol San at the same side).
Pho: A lot of choices but I will pick Pho Hung. Of course , I won't expect good services at Chinatown at all.
BBQ: The one on West side of Spadina and north of Dundas. Almost at the NW corner.
By the way, where is the Chinese Traditional Bun?
Urgently seek help: Chinese Hot Pot Dinner this weekend
I recently try a new one at Chinatown. They provide a whole new style of hot pot dinner. The renovation is not over done but with style. Is not a all-you-can-eat type but the quality of the lamb is very good. I think they have spicy brooth as well. One negative is they are not easy to find because they are in the basement and their entrance is not that clear. I found this place because I am a regular of the Queen bakery which is located at the ground floor.
