What's With Jefferson Market?

We order from them where I work and they have been buying our groceries elsewhere and delivering them to us.....that doesn't sound like a refrigeration problem to me

Desperately seeking New England Style Hot Dog Buns

I have searched everywhere (feels like it) for these and can not find them. Pepperidge Farm makes a top split hot dog bun but they are not the same. They do not have the flat sides that make the bun look like a folded piece of white bread. Does anyone know who carries these??? Need them ASAP for photo shoot. Thanks!

Does anyone know where I can find fresh turmeric root?

Did anyone go to Studio B BBQ last night?

How was it?

Anyone have any rec's for menu items at WD-50?

The food overall was not that great. The bone marrow was horrible. They turned it into some sort of "custard" but it was grainy like they had mixed it with potato or something. All of the sexy texture and flavor of bone marrow was completely gone. Very sad.

Had the lamb loin, it was decent but my eyes didn't roll back in my head or anything.

The corn pudding for dessert was SOOOOOOOOO good. Very comforting even though it has modern twists. I would go back for dessert in the future but the savory food was not impressive.

Recipe for homemade brown rice pasta

I am looking to make a gluten free pasta but don't want to use xanthan gum and potato starch. I was hoping to make pasta from brown rice flour, corn flour or quinoa flour. Has anyone done this and had success? Thanks for the help!!!

Anyone have any rec's for menu items at WD-50?

Thanks! I will steer towards the definite loves and keep the "interesting" eel for next time.

In Desperate Need of PEYCHAUD'S BITTERS!!!

Does anyone know where I can find bottles of Peychaud's Bitters for making legitimate Sazeracs?

Rancho Gordo or other good dried beans?

I called....Marlow and Sons is the only place in proximity that carries them. She said that the store at Blue Hill at Stone Barns also carries them but just the location in Pocantino Hills, not here in the city.

Rancho Gordo or other good dried beans?

I'm sure if you called Rancho Gordo they would tell you if they distribute to anyplace in NYC.

CHOWHOUND CHALLENGE: 8 Hours, 3 guys, $100 each

Oooh...while you are up at 116th....head across to Amy Ruths. It is on 116th between Malcolm X Blvd and Seventh Ave. Very close to the 116th st stop on the 2,3 line. The fried chicken and waffles here should not be missed. And the staff is very friendly.

farmer-centric restaurants

You can't go wrong with Craft. Tom Colicchio is one of the originals of the locavore frenzy here and he always does the job well. The food is homey, rustic, family style and always delicious. Get the sweetbreads as a first course and DEFINITELY get the donuts for dessert.

Is Per Se worth it?

It is definitely worth it! It was the best meal that I have had and the service was fantastic. My boyfriend took me for my 30th birthday and we were there for six hours. You definitely will not be disappointed.

Adour,Bouley,or Le Cirque???

I am aware of how European table service works and of how table service was working around us that evening.
All of our glasses were completely empty, we were not offered any more coffee or water, etc.

Donovan's Pub, Woodside?

The burger is very good. Ridiculously juicy and flavorful (get it with the fried onions, they are not crispy but more like caramelised onions). You have to eat it as soon as it hits the table though or the bun will be a mushy doughball. The fries are hit or miss. I have been where they have literally been the best fries that I have ever had and then the next time they will be soggy....strange. The ambiance of the place is worth it, try and sit in one of the little cubbies.

Stand Review

I have always had a really good meal at stand. The burgers are delicious but I REALLY like their veggie burger. It is so delicious. We have always had nice, crispy fries as well. The servers are a little brain dead but I have just come to realize that the servers in NYC are zombies for the most part.

I've got Gift certs. to blow at Blue Ribbon- Suggestions?

I really liked their fried chicken....it was some of the best that I have had here...not the best, but it was delicious.

Adour,Bouley,or Le Cirque???

Please, under no circumstances should you go to Adour. My boyfriend and I went on Sunday and had one of the worst dining experiences that we have had in this city. Not only was the food not exciting and not very delicious....the service was AWFUL! We were left with our empty dessert plates and empty glasses for over a half an hour. We finally had to ask for a check because we realized that they simply were not going to clear our plates. I was mortified and really angry. There were other very unimpressive moments about the meal but that's a good start....

where do you buy supplies?

Broadway panhandler and Bowery Kitchen Supply in Chelsea Market are good for the home cook. It's less frilly than Crate and Barrel but less intimidating than all of the super restauranty supply stores in the Bowery.

Has anyone seen fresh figs anywhere?

I know that they are totally out of season but I need them for a photo. Has anyone seen them anywhere in any of the burroughs?
