Cooking Tips - Indian Food
Does anyone know about this dish. It has cauliflower and potatoes. It's more like an appetizer and it has curry in it. I love Indian food and I'm always tempted to make it but I don't know where to start. I'll try something small to begin with. Thanks!
Favorite Cabbage ideas
Same here, I love cabbage soup or stir frying cabbage with some sausage. Easy to make lunches. Either that or make salads with cabbage.
Soy milk really makes me mad!
Lol. I always wondered about that too. When I finally get the little foil piece off, the milk doesn't pour right into my mugs and milk spills everywhere. Am I just bad at pouring newly opened soy milk? Perhaps the packaging was made like that since soy milk can last a lot longer than cow milk. Thoughts?

Sherman Oaks: is there any place worth crossing the hills for?
The temple used to be our weekly adventure out into the Valley when we lived in Westwood. We were able to get full on $10 for two people! It was so much fun. I miss it. :(
thanks chowhound! also, what's your plan for spring and summer herbs?
I would like to get basil, maybe rosemary, and lemongrass. Those seem like the ones I can actually take care of. :)
When was the first time you cooked using a recipe?
I grew up in a family where my mom cooked almost everyday since my dad didn't like eating out. I would always help her with the meals so I'm not to sure the first time I used a recipe. I love her collection of recipe books because it has everything.
does anyone like grapples?
How interesting. I've never seen it in the stores yet, where do you buy them from. I would try it but I'm curious on what type of smell does it have?

Good burritos in LA?
Ok, this one is a stretch and anyone who has ever had a craving for a burrito at 2 or 3 am in the Valley. You need to check out El Indio on the North West block of Roscoe and Balboa. They make 'em spicy 24 hrs a day and there is a huge variety of meats. Speaking of it just makes my mouth water.
Elk liver?
I haven't tried the Elk Liver, but my brother-in-law brought over some Elk steaks which were very tender and delicious. He marinated it in a Rasberry Chipotle mix and it really complimented well.
Mexican Food/Margaritas in the Valley?
Hey everybody, I'm new here and love this forum already. What a great resource. I have to completely disagree with Diana. Though it is nothing fancy, my favorite Mexican restaurant resides in Reseda. Its called Las Fuentes. Roughly 1 block east of Reseda Blvd. on Vanowen St.. The food is very authentic, not to mention delicious, offers a great atmosphere and alcoholic drinks are available. I believe they offer margaritas but never noticed because we always grab beers instead. The place can get crowded and parking is not so great. However, you will not be disappointed.

They are fruit snack dots. You can probably find them in you fruit snack section at grocery store. Do you shop at Safeway? They have Safeway brand fruit snacks you can use.

Ice Cream Cake Help
My mom's idea of making me a homeade ice cream cake was buying a cake loaf and using it to sandwich strawberry ice-cream. She then proceeded to frost and freeze. Who cares if it was a lop-sided mountain of ice-cream and cake, It was the thought that counted! :-p
