Bloomfield hills for lunch?

I think you might be a little limited in your choices in BH. One place I would steer you away from is Bill's. Went there about a month ago and was not impressed. First, it was way overpriced and second, it really wasn't that good. Trying to make it a casual meal I went for the mussels which I thought would be safe since "Bill" also owns Streetside Seafood. If I'd never had them before I wouldn't eat them again. The were gummy and stuck to the shells with no taste. I didn't want to complain as I was with two friends, but thought I won't be back. Had dinner with the same two last week and one said she loved it, the other however has some serious chefs in her family also said she wouldn't back as she didn't like what she ordered either. Sorry that I can't remember what it was. I didn't really want to bash the place but honestly I expected more.

Revolver [DTW]

Went last night for my third time. Dinner was great! It's a BYOB and they have wine glasses at the table. People also bring beer. There is a party store across the street. We were at a table for 6, we were three pairs of people who didn't know each other. Had more fun with that group of strangers! It was also the best meal I've had there. The chef was Alison Heeres and the menu was vegetarian. Wonderful!

DTW: Sunday Brunch for 50 near Royal Oak

VTB, thanks for adding a few potential options, fifty is a lot to handle. I will scratch O'Mara's from the list and look into the others.

DTW: Sunday Brunch for 50 near Royal Oak

My daughter is co-hosting a bridal shower for 50 people and it has to be a Sunday brunch. Not sure of the budget but she wants it to be nice. Royal Oak or surrounds would be perfect. Can't think of many places that will do brunch and also can hold around 50. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Props to Royal Oak (Detroit area) Holiday Market for soup bone service today

I would imagine that they would have most everything in back where they cut up the meat. The bones I bought were already wrapped and in the cooler by the bacon. I have had them butterfly chicken for me, sometimes I get the bone, other times not. They must have a stockpile in the back. It would certainly be worth the asking.
On another note...if you're looking for things not usually at the meat counter, try Carnival Market on Walton. I was there last week and was pretty impressed by the meat department.

Oh that Holiday Market has everything! I always stop there when I'm down that way. I've bought soup bones at Nino's, too.

So if you were going to lunch in Birmingham, MI where would you go

I love both Cafe Via and Social Kitchen. Both have great menu's. Love the salad selection at Social, along with the roasted Brussels Sprouts. Cafe Via has a really nice omelet for lunch.

Lunch between Detroit and Frankenmuth, Michigan

I was going to suggest Ruggero's but Rainsux beat me to it. It's a family owned place and they still put a lot of love into what they do. Personally I like the baked shells but they do make a great lasagna. Plus, their pizza is still made like they did in the old days...crust is a perfect amount of dough and crispiness. The owner told me the menu keeps getting bigger because their long time customers won't let them take anything off to get a more updated selection, so they just keep adding. It's about three miles west of I-75 at the Corunna Road exit. I would drive right past Andiamo's and head to Ruggero's...there is no comparison.

Are you referring to Grand Blanc, MI? This is a regional board so you may want to put that in your subject line.

DTW. Torino as Freep Restaurant Of The Year

I went in November, place was busy even for a Wednesday night. It's more of an experience than "going for dinner". I don't remember exactly what we had but my friend and I were happy that we went. It's not the kind of place you should go to hungry as you may not be full when you leave. However, if you want to try some taste sensations, then it's an explosion of flavor and texture in every bite. Our only disappointment that night was dessert....it was a deconstructed something but in the end we felt like they had just served us Capt'n Crunch with milk. They did redeem themselves by bringing yet another course of a small muffin type thing that was very tasty. Since the menu changes weekly we should never have to worry about getting it again. The waitstaff was very attentive, too.

Flint/Grand Blanc, MI food

Ruggero's, on Corunna Road, for good pizza and Italian food.
If you're in Grand Blanc, Colony Market makes subs that are pretty good...ask at the cash register for the menu. Also in Grand Blanc you'll get a pretty hearty sandwich or salad at the Crossbow Inn.
Stop at any Halo Burger, a local chain, for a cheeseburger deluxe with olives.

Naples: where best to buy beef, fish, and cheap(ish) decent restos

For fresh fish I'd suggest going north a little to Bonita Beach Rd and visit Rodes.

Seeking car show dining guidance (round 2!)

Not sure what you're really looking for at the higher end, but I might suggest Torino, in Ferndale. It's just up Woodard on Nine Mile. The tasting menu changes each week...not for the hearty eater...more for the adventurous. The menu is unique and each bite is truly an adventure for your tastebuds. They also serve craft cocktails.

Grand Rapids -- close to Holiday Inn DTWN on Pearl

Ate at both 616 and Leo's this past fall. Really enjoyed dinner at Leo's but I have to say that 616 was pretty good, too! We ordered a variety of items to split at 616 but I was most happy with the mussels...could have ordered them two days in a row. Plus, they serve Illy coffee, which is my favorite right now...so I was happy.

I think they're banking on the entertainment complex that's supposed to be coming to that facility. The hotel is scheduled to go through a major upgrade and they are adding retail, etc. I do agree that the prices are too steep for the area.

Pick A Restaurant: Ann Arbor

I agree with BobRe on the West End. They just have such a nice menu and you feel like you've gone somewhere special. You do have to make reservations well in advance.

I've had some unique dinners at Vinology, however the last time I was there I had a bad experience that I don't feel they handled well. It's also crowded and noisy which doesn't add to an overall great experience.

Northern Lakes & Seafood; Relocated to Troy, MI

I went there last night and ate in the bar. Although they still serve the full menu. The bartender waited on us, he was great, and told us they had changed the menu a little, but since I had only been at the previous location once I wouldn't have noticed. They've been there about five weeks now but the first two or three were without a liquor license...they're up and running with it now.
They seem to be doing a lot of local sourcing. We had the Goat Cheese and Apple Salad...nicely presented and we both enjoyed it. The soup choices were Seafood Chowder and Cream of Broccoli. I had the Seafood which had a lot of taste and I liked it but have nothing to compare to since I don't usually order it and knew I didn't want a creamy soup. We then ordered two appetizers....Vernors braised short ribs which were so tasty I could have had a second order and Maryland Crab Cake it was big but nothing outstanding.
The location has not been renovated and I found the prices rather high...the grouper was $36. I love grouper and always order when it's on the menu but that was way above my price point.
Also, Deli Unique has moved there...I think the bartender told us it's now called Epic Deli? and inside the MET hotel. I will go back as it's close to home but will probably only eat in the bar and get appetizers.

Restaurants open Christmas Eve in Southeast Michigan

We were among the diners at Eddie Merlot's. The place wasn't packed as we would usually find on Christmas Eve but everyone in my family enjoyed what they had. Typically we head to the Royal Park, which is always full with a long waiting list, but decided to make a change this year. Both are pricey but it is Christmas Eve.

The Burger Bubble [DTW; Troy, FH & Troy]

Not a big burger fan anymore, but in the day I loved a cheeseburger deluxe with olives and a Vernors Cream Ale. Noticed Halo Burger, in Troy, last week and thought it was in an odd location for them. Typically they're not in a strip....guess they'll be no drive through at this one.

Dinner near The Fisher in DTW

Berkleybabe, we ended up at Cuisine and it was wonderful! The presentation was nice...service was a little slow but it wasn't like we had to jump into a car and then find a parking space. We all loved our meal and got to the Fisher with 10 minutes to spare.

Dinner near The Fisher in DTW

We're heading to the Fisher on Saturday night, but going to the Motown Museum first. I'm looking for somewhere for dinner and don't want to stray too far. Has anyone been to Maccabee's? They offer a discount plus they'll pick you up and take you back to the Fisher. My friends are from out of the area so I'd like more than a bar, but not somewhere that could take so long we'll miss the show.
Any suggestions or comments on Maccabee's?
