Thanksgiving Dinner -- David Burke's, Restaurant at Conrad or Markethouse?

All will have a unique daily menu, rather than the typical experience, I presume. In that case, I would choose D Burke. Personal opinion.

Are you eating there on Thanksgiving? That will change everything.

This Weekend In Chicago Near the Union League Club

Mercat a la Planxa is fun (the downstairs bar is small and intimate with interesting concoctions). Upstairs is big, bold beautiful with small plates and a good bar. Right around the corner from you is The Gage cafe. Worth looking into. Excellent gastro pub style food with a twist, beautiful rooms.

Best cupcakes in town?

Tried a new place in the Loop. The Cupcake Counter on Madison, near Franklin. A mom and daughter business with fresh cupcakes (and awesome snickerdoodles) each day. They frost in a unique way (more vertical) and the flavors were good. It is a little pocket store in the base of parking garage. Really cute.

Lawry's For Thanksgiving

Very good food and interesting concept. Had a waitress out of Central Casting in Hollywood. She was of a certain age, a bit grumpy in an entertaining way and served food out of these 1930's Art Deco grills that they roll around. Should be a memorable holiday.

Anyone been to 44th ward Dinner Party?

Anyone been there? Can you share your experience? Is it BYOB?

dinner near 3133 N. Halsted

Try Home Bistro on Halstead, a BYOB place with inventive, hearty food. I also love Yoshis and Wakamono. Erwin is another place just south of the theater on Halstead to try.

MARGARITAS

Just had an interesting concoction at Salsaria at Sears Tower. Nicole at the bar called it a Mexico City Margarita. Way less sweet than a standard...

Coming for a wedding, want a nice place

Just had a fine meal in Chicago at North Pond, one of the city's best. Soft shell crab with tomato foam. A total distraction from the flavor of the crab, apparently just be cool and say you can do foam. Not a fan. If it is more technical and science based cuisine ("let's see how far we can push the envelope of food") then we would probably be better eating somewhere else.

Coming for a wedding, want a nice place

Probably in the Expensive category. We are all adventurous diners, but not adventure for adventures sake (i.e.: no foam). We are all slow foodies and enjoy cooking and eating a wonderful shared meal, so bustling and a feel of "the next table is waiting" is not to our taste.

Coming for a wedding, want a nice place

Yes, we are coming for one of the many weddings taking place this summer. We would like a nice place to have a pre-wedding dinner. Special food, special view or special interior. Something that would make it memorable.

New idea in River North?

Do not go to Weber Grill. I was there recently and had a terrible meal. It was very expensive, no atmosphere and the serve was sub-par.

Foodie ISO 'Things to Do' in Chicago (beyond Eating)

Try Oil & Vinegar on State behind the Bloomingdale's Home Store. They have a variety of oils and vinegars to try and compare (soak up in white bread). Great little adventure.

Impossible? Great mid-priced Italian

Great suggestions, all. Thanks so much. I will have to try all of these over the next few months. Dinner anyone?

Need dining suggestions for Lincoln Park

You might try Firefly or Home Bistro, both on Halstead, near where you will be staying. Heart of Boystown.

Impossible? Great mid-priced Italian

OK, so I have a relative coming to Chicago for her birthday. She loves Italian food. I am looking for a place that has a nice design (not junky, afterall, it is her birthday), somewhat progressive food (not alfredo everything) and not $30-50 for an entree. I am hoping for teens and twenties for an entree. Any suggestions?
