10th trip in three years nets fine food for Vancouver BC Hound and family

I always go to Bakeshop before 11am, and there is a dazzling selection!

Thanks! Awesome review! I go to Japanese Garden almost weekly. My happy place.
J & M is one of my go-to's for breakfast.
Blue Star's old fashioneds are my parents' preference. They just opened a Tokyo shop. I like that they went from 4 PDX shops and bypassed the rest of N America.
Did you have the outstanding baked goods at Courier? [Never mind, I see from the photo that you did. The chocolate chip cookie is not to be missed!]
Also, have you been to Bakeshop? Their selection is far beyond any coffee shop that carries their product.

China's Famed Street Crepes Come to Portland

I read that too. I'll give them a try and report but I'm certainly no expert. The people are not Chinese, they learned by watching Youtube videos.

Sad news for tea fans: Steve Smith dies

He is the one person most responsible for our being such a great tea town. Thanks for asking them to fix it.

Tazo, which he sold to Starbuck's. Never heard of Grotto.
Met him at the shop's opening. Amazing guy. Grew up here. Palate was so refined he could even tell the difference between estates that grew the leaves.

Portland Farmers Market Breakfast recommendations

Market footprint expanded 1-2 weeks ago to regular season size. Prepared food vendors returning in droves.

Mr Taster's first report as a Portland resident! Boxer Ramen? Oy.

Welcome. Little T has more selection, so can take an assortment to the office. It's their downtown outpost. All is made at the main shop in SE.

Being in the Blue Star Bldg, you must try the nearby Maurice, Little T, and the baked goods at Courier.

Fellow Diner, You Want to do WHAT to My Table?!

There really wasn't any other place for me to put them, other than just waiting patiently for staff to do so.
Thanks everyone for the support. Was starting to wonder if it's just me...

Fellow Diner, You Want to do WHAT to My Table?!

Ate at a place where you order at the counter, sit down, they bring your food. Only table available had a couple dirty dishes on it. I sat down, hoping they would come soon to take them. People at the next table casually, without even asking me, started dumping their dirty dishes on my table (for all I know, the dishes already there may have come from them). I said "Excuse me, I don't want you doing that." They stopped, but looked all butthurt about it and mumbled passive aggressively under their breath. Was I overly sensitive making an issue of this?

New Year's - visiting family in Gresham

Thanks for the report. Love the place. Sent my parents there for NYE once, they loved the food but found the seating uncomfortable. Agreed, it's not realistic to expect all the food to come out together for such a large group.

Accused of shoplifting!

While you were clearly in the right, you lost the moral high ground when you escalated the situation by yelling.

Servers who pick up dishes but not flatware between courses: was I rude to bring this up?

What annoys me more is when my dish is brought, but then I must wait for the flatware to come.

Viridian Farms change of ownership confirmed

They will no longer be a farm. They will be a store selling Euro import food items. Same owners, but with one added partner who has a lot of know-how on importing food.

Let's ban the word GUYS!!!

Screw that, I'll order only so much as I'll drink, meaning a half pint. And I don't feel any less masculine either. It's called low alcohol tolerance.

if you could live anywhere at any income level, what would you choose?

Right here in Portland where I am. I have access to one of the best farmers markets to be found anywhere in addition to my own garden, amazing and yummy local cheese, food carts, hazelnuts, beer & wine.

Exactly. Negotiate and get it in writing. In the absence of a written agreement, everything that is installed as in screwed down etc, stays. Anything not installed is NOT part of the real property and is considered personal property, therefore if buyer wants it he had better get it into the sale contract.

I'd rather select my own food.
Not rude, but kinda strange.
Only exception being were I sick or crazy busy.
