Good Korean Ssam bap (not bossam)?
The only place I know of is Si Gol Ssam Bap on Western Avenue. It's now an AYCE place which is decent but the draw here is the huge plate of ssam they bring out - perilla leaves, lettuce, cabbage, kelp, etc. Their house-made ssam jang is pretty good from what I can remember.

How are the panchan at Hae Jong Chon in K-town?
Their banchan offerings are pretty small and meh. They do have the steamed egg and kimchi pancakes however. I've been there a few times now and everytime, I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality of meat, especially for an AYCE.
Live Crawfish place, in Koreatown, near 6th and New Hampshire in minimall???...
Cobblestone street would probably be Chapman Plaza on 6th and Alexandria? Don't know anything about live fish or crawfish but maybe http://www.yelp.com/biz/chung-dam-jogae-los-angeles
hope this helps
Best Korean Restaurants in K-Town
http://www.tripline.net/trip/My_favorite_Korean_restaurants-455224330363100383089417ADE9E9A0
I just made a list of my favorite Korean restaurants the other day. Dong Il Jang, Sokongdong, and Park's are all included, along with a few others :)

Awesome. I'm FINALLY checking out Hatfield's tonight - can't wait!
Road trip from Los Angeles to Dallas - any recommendations?
Any must-stop places on the way? Thanks!!!
Man vs. Food (Puerto Rico) El Churry Mixto sandwich
I just saw this episode last night and it looked sooooo good! They said the meats were marinated for two days in a sofrito, consisting of cilantro, garlic, onion and peppers. A lot of the recipes I'm finding include tomatoes or ham....Does anyone have a good recipe?
Thanks!
K-town recommendation for multicultural group?
Park's is one of the best korean BBQ restaurants out there but Soowon Galbi is up there too. As for all-you-can-eat korean bbq, I would steer away from Manna as there are much better ones out there. Moo Dae Po 2 is pretty fun - GREAT for large groups and they start playing loud music and club lights after 9. Probably one of the best quality meats for AYCE.
Be prepared to wait for a table however.
Happy eatings!

Isolationist Sushi (or, Good Sushi For When You Don't Feel Like Having An Itamae) - Sushi Zo [Review] w/ Pics!
I think I've posted this before but the yuzu drink at Sushi Zo tastes just like korean citron tea (aka yuja cha). Just mix a spoon or so in hot water, then chill. You can buy a jar at any korean market :)
Need a ktown rec
The one on Kingsley and the one on 6th are closed down for good. Not sure about the one on Olympic though.
Anisette - must-try items?
Finally checking out Anisette this week. Any recommendations on must-try's?
Zuni chicken
Thank you all very much! I typically brine my smaller birds for a day or two but didn't know how much longer to brine it for with this 4.5pounder.
Zuni chicken
I have a 4 1/2 lb chicken that I'd like to "Zuni". How many days should I salt it?
Sushi Zo -- Only if you'll pay $150/person to be insulted by the rude and arrogant Keizo
Very well said.
Alaskan King Crab
lol. Great story. FYI - Ralph's is selling the colossal king crab legs for $12.99 from 8/13 - 8/19
Asian Style Dipping Sauce
How about some korean red chili pepper paste (gochujang)? You can make ssam jang - mix some gochujang with swenjang (fermented soybean paste), add a little sugar and sesame oil.

Alaskan King Crab
Third. I always keep an eye out for the weekly specials at Ralph's and Vons for their king crab legs. Occasionally they will have the colossal (6-9 size) for $9.99/lb.
Odaesan - Open again!
I was driving down Olympic the other day and saw a sign announcing Odaesan's Grand Reopening. Perhaps now I will finally make it out there to try their al bap.

Help please! ISO birthday dinner venue -LAX area
My friend is staying at the LA Mariott near the LAX and needs a place to have a small birthday dinner, preferably 20-30 per person. Small plates or izakaya would be ideal. I can think of tons of places in the greater LA area but am completely unknowledgeable about this area. Your help is greatly appreciated!
Boneless, skinless chicken thighs
You could try a korean spicy soy sauce braised chicken:
Brown the chicken, set aside. Saute some onions, add garlic, put the chicken back in. Add dried red pepper flakes/powder (a spoonful), 1/2 cup or so of soy sauce and sugar to taste (I put in almost equal parts of sugar and soy sauce). Add a touch of sesame oil. Add a bit of water if it looks to dry, maybe 1/2 - 1 cup. Cover and simmer on low until chicken is tender. I like to add quartered potatoes to it too. Enjoy with a heaping bowl of rice :)
Recipe Organization -- computer
I've recently started using gmail to organize my recipes.
I set up a gmail account specifically for managing my recipes and I copy and paste each recipe (along with the link if it's a good resource) into its own "email" with the subject line containing the category: appetizer, salad, chicken, meat, etc and the name of the dish. Gmail has a great search function too so once in a while, I'll just search for a specific item (i.e., artichokes, chicken thighs, etc) and pow. All recipes with that ingredient pop right up.
Crudobar at Breadbar?
From Eater LA: Due to popular demand, guest chef Noriuki Sugie has extended his stay at the Century City Breadbar until July 31.
AYCE Korean BBQ Rating Scale 1 2 3
Hey wil (aka AYCE master), have you tried the tongue at SBGR? I've been meaning to, but haven't had the chance.........
