Raising a non-picky eater

No, not always did they willingly eat it. Many times my oldest(when he was younger) would gag and vomit, but we prepare that dish again, and make him eat it. Those foods are now some of his favorites!! ( beans, eggs)

Raising a non-picky eater

My children are 7, 8, 9 yr old boys. I also have a 8 month old baby girl, but she's still on baby food;). We have always fed the boys what we eat. I have always added onion, garlic, and spices to their food. Cinnamon to batters, and different flavors to basic foods. I add Italian seasoning to all my pizzas( fresh, frozen, or take &bake) my kids eat everything!! When I was a kid,my dad had us eating raw garlic, & bone marrow. He would give us a quarter to eat weird things:) none of us are picky eaters. My husband also Wil eat anything. It's definitely the way parents raise their children. Also, my boys grew up eating all fresh veggies without dressing. If you start that way, they will learn to enjoy the flavor of the veggie, not the dressing. :)

How to make my chocolate chip cookie recipe more healthy

I also use the same recipe, BUT I use the real butter, and I use just one stick of it. Also I Completely Melt it, and it's perfect!! And not greasy. Sometimes I use a little water to make the dough fully come together. Also sometimes I add ground flax to the dough.

Who still drinks soda?

Nope! Never had it in the house growing up. My mom let us order it when we went out to dinner, but then as I got older, I started ordering water in resturants. Now in my own home I don't buy it either. I can't stand it really:)

I agree about a casserole, a grits one, also maybe an egg, meat, bread one. I like the fruit salad idea. Pasta salad is a good idea too:)

Thank you!! I let my children open up the spice cabinet, and choose the seasonings. They do very well with their picks, and with adding it to a recipe!:))

Uses for Chipotle Sunflower Seed Butter?

Maybe add a scoop to cornbread batter, or smear it on a BLT, or a hamburger. Thin with vinegar and use as a dressing for salad, or coleslaw. Or use it as mayo in chicken salad.

What is your dirty little food secret?

Try green olives, green onion, and pickled jalepenos(sweet brine if you can) all chopped mixed in cream cheese, or cottage cheese. The cottage cheese is amazing on cucumber slices!

Homemade grain-free dog treats?

We had bought a smoked prime rib for Christmas last year. It was a 20 lb. after eating it Christmas, then again new years, and by that point we felt it had been frozen and cooked too many times, I took the remainder, and sliced it thin, dehydrated it till very crunchy, (stored in freezer) & they made the best dog treats for our Australian Shepord!!

What are you making for Valentines Dinner?

I'm making ribeyes, shrimp scampi(with jumbo shrimp), rice, a nice salad, and a homemade edible arrangement, some fruit will be chocolate dipped, and s cake pop arrangement for my kids. The cake pops will be strawberry cake, and dipped in white chocolate, with Valentine sprinkles:) I'm on a very strict omni drop diet, so no wine/sugar/rice or scampi for me. But my husband and kids will love it!

What to make with four boneless, skinless chicken breasts...

Salt and pepper them, put sliced tomatoes on the top of the breasts, then fresh or dried basil(or any herb/spice), then use a slice or two of bacon, wrap the bacon around the chicken and tomatoes, sear on both sides, then bake to cook through. We love it!

The best compliment you've received

My best compliment was having 2 of my OWN recipes published in cooking magazines! One of the recipes was also published in an annual hard covered cookbook. :)

The odd cravings and dislikes of a pregnant woman [Moved from General Topics board]

I have 4 kids. My 3 boys, and just had my baby girl 7 Weeks ago! With my boys, I was severely sick. Couldn't even drink water. When I could finally eat again, I wanted pickles, pepperoncini, olives, salami. My food adversions were chocolate, sweets, garlic, onions, chicken. With my girl, I loved lots of fruit, yogurts, beans, cream cheese on wasa crackers with dill pickles on top. Regular food habits will return after pregnancy.

Foods You Like Primarily Because of the Texture

To me, the darker the chocolate, the better the bite . It's more firm. I love the flavor and texture.
