Center City: post Eagles restaurant suggestion?

Hey all- my brother and dad chose gastropub (Pennsylvania 6), even though neither of them knew what gastropub meant. The oysters and burgers were great, and the sauce for the fries stood out too.

The service was a over attentive: they grabbed my brother's plate while he was putting the last bite in his mouth, and asked how we were doing around ten times. Maybe the cost of being the first to dinner on a Sunday ;-)

Thanks for the advice!

Center City: post Eagles restaurant suggestion?

My annual game with my dad + brother is coming up. We park by City Hall and take the train out to the game. Can anyone recommend a nearby place for dinner? No: expensive, romantic, noisy. Yes: good food, nice atmosphere close, walking distance to City Hall.

Last year I scrambled and found a fancy beer hall type place on Sansom, which they liked, but it was pretty loud with college kids and blasting tvs.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm glad to see CH is still alive and well :-)

My boss wants to do the Frying Pan, even though it is a walk from our meeting.

Momofuku Ko: no foie gras or pork -> worth it?

I want to take my wife to Ko but she doesn't eat foie gras or pork. Would it still be worth it?

work outing: bar recommendation for group of 20, in/near midtown?

Hi CH-

I'm arranging an outing for my work group:
- 20 people
- leaving office in midtown (5th ave + 53rd)
- food and drink
- a Wednesday night

Any recommendations?

I checked out Bierhaus and it was too crowded/noisy. Some people are recommending the new, big bars on 9th ave, but I'm hoping to avoid a long walk or taking the train.

Thanks for your help!

Korean BBQ for large group, in K-town? (Other than Kum Gang San)

Where would you recommend a group of 10 go for Korean BBQ in K-town? My only contender is Kum Gang San, which I'm very familiar with but would like to try something new. Extra credit: large banchan variety, not super expensive.

Thanks for your help!

Around the Clock 24 Hour Restaurant: news?

Hey CH-

This diner (8 Stuyvesant St , at 3rd Avenue) was a favorite of my coworkers. It has been closed since May. Do any of you know what is going on? Is it re-opening, or is it going to be something new?

Thanks for your help-

Affordable, decent Indian?

Hello Chowhound-

My parents are visiting this weekend and my mom has requested Indian for dinner. To my knowledge, Indian food in Manhattan is broken down into two groups of restaurants: inexpensive and grubby (6th street) vs. expensive and posh (Tabla Bread Bar, Utsav). I'm trying to find a place in between. (I'm going to be paying for dinner for 12 and want to keep it reasonable.)

This will be an early post-show dinner in Manhattan from Times Square to anywhere on the way back to Brooklyn).

Thanks for your help!

Authentic Tom Yung Goong?

Where can I find a good bowl of Tom Yung Goong? In particular I'm looking for a place that uses coconut milk, and I do know the difference between Tom Yung and Tom Kha. I had this amazing bowl of Tom Yung Goong in Bangkok years ago, and, since then, I can't stomach the clear, super-sharp versions I find here in the city. I want something that looks like this: http://thai4real.blogspot.com/2008/12...

Chinese-style Shrimp & Scrambled Eggs

A place in midtown has just what you are describing: big fluffy eggs w/ large shrimp on rice.

Make sure you go to the back, past the buffet to order it. Big serving for the price, too.

Moksha: out of business?

A friend recommended Moksha (18 Murray St, downtown) but the two numbers I've found online aren't working. Does anyone know if it has closed?

Thanks!

Group dinner + drinks near Astor Place?

Hi Chowhound!

My goal: take my work group (14 people) out for food + drinks near Astor Place. I'd love to find a place like Loreley. My only recommendation so far is The Smith. I don't know if the boss is paying, so lower budget is better, and we'll be going around 7:00 on a Thursday.

Thanks for your time!
