Review of Asian Legend
I went to the chinatown location downtown toronto with the family -- i thought the food was really good, fresh, tasty, chinese in a great setting for a nice night out. the bbay bok choy with garlic and shrimp with chinese brocolli were the best. definately recommend it.
North Berkshire Guide (Williamstown, North Adams, etc.)
I've been to Mezze in Williamstown and i liked it alot! I had the steak and cheese appetizers which were both pretty solid. They seemed to have a pretty varied good menu.
Also for casual fare cup & saucer makes great soups and sandwiches!
Wrigleyville dinner
I was visiting my cousin in Wrigleyville this weekend and went to Mia Francesca. AMAZING! So fresh so tasty with so few ingredients. One of the best simple italian places ive ever been to. They change their menu regularly too so they always have some interesting twists on classic dishes. And the prices are unbelievably great too.
Anyone ever try BAO NOODLE on 22nd & 2nd Ave??
I like this place. I live on 23rd and 1st, so right around the corner and i'd say its a great little neighbourhood vietnemese spot that you can go to when you dont feel like going far away. It's nothing to write home about but they definately do a solid pho, bahn mi for the neighbourhood.
Barbuto
I had lunch at Barbuto today on a nice summer day... place is great in the summer because its all open. We had a really solid pasta and the pizza de journo with eggs prociotto on it. Both were really good and we had the affolo for dessert which was nice on a summer day. Solid food and a nice cool spot.
Porter House New York Review
I had the Chili Rubbed Steak. It was really great! Nice and dessert was good too.
Barolo
Barolo's patio is really great in the summer. Its buzzing with people, huge and its in the back so its away from the street. The food wasn't bad, I went pretty simple and had the rigatoni which was pretty solid. Some of my dinner mates didn't love their pastas though. This place definately seems to be all about the patio and not so much the food.
Where to find a good Vietnamese sandwich (bahn mi?)
My coworker just got us Vietnamese sandiches / Bahn Mi-s from Grand & Mott -- "Saigon Bakery" -- its a Jewlery store with Bahn Mi-s in the back.
These were simply put the best sandwhiches ever. The pork is super slow roasted and tasty, cucumber to cool you down, jalapenos to give it some kick. As for it spicy!
Good Sushi near Union Square
I was at Haru last night to meet up with a friend. Its a bit pricey but a good spot to get some food and drinks. They have a good selection of sushis, particularly spicy ones with jalapenos/spicy-ness that are pretty tasty!
Bukhara Grill
I ate @Bukhara Grill twice with my work team. If you go as a group they have this great deal where food+drink is included and its litterally a served buffet where they let you try a little bit of everything -- fried onion bhajis to chicken tikka to lamb kebabs to different naans to kulfi and other sweets.
On top of all that, this is the best Indian restaurant i've been to so far in the city. It's authentic food, a really nice atmosphere (upstairs is great, also the balcony out back is nice to go have a smoke/drink), and did I mention the food was great? They do a good job of keeping it spicy but tasty. Highly recommended.
Cheap, Yummy Snacks in the Slope and nearby
i just got some Prosciotto balls from Joe's Superette at lunchtime today. I think I just ate 10 of them in a row. They are amazing! they arent greasy at all for being fried.... fried cheese goodness, that is
Luzzo's?
I like Luzzo's alot. In my opinion they are the best pizza in the city, better than Lombari's or Grimaldi's or Patsy's. I have not been to many other pizza joints outside of those though. Anyways, their pizza tastes like the kind you get at a pizzaria in Italy. My favorite pizza there is the Arugula/Procioto Pizza, followed the the "El Diablo" which is Spicy Pepperoni Salami and Mushrooms.
Buddakan
i thought buddakon was decent. the edemame dumpings were the grossest things i had ever tasted. the aftertaste was pretty bad. I had the szechuan steak for dinenr which was OK. the highlight was the dessert -- the mille feuille was seriously the best dessert ever. layers of chocolate creme brulled bananas cake and chocolate mousse, with spiced chocolate ice cream on the side. I probably wouldnt come here again, I prefer Tao or Budda Bar.
La Fonda Boriqua in East Harlem
My gf lives in Spanish/East Harlem so we decided to check out La Fonda Boricua since its in the 'hood. In one sentance -- its just like stepping into a Puerto Rican family's house! There is no menu -- but that doesn't matter, just get the stew or roast of the day. I had pork ribs and my gf had the chicken stew, both served with rice and beans. We polished off the entire plates, the pork ribs were so soft and tender and perfectly seasoned! mmm. I would definately check it out again.
a horrible dinner at nobu (tribeca)
I didn't enjoy nobu either. None of the dishes made me feel "wow" and I just didn't think anything was that great. The rock shrimp in creamy spicy sauce was a bright sauce but barely. I felt like everything else felt plain and uninspired.
Best BBQ Ribs in NYC
RUB BBQ in chelsea is pretty great --- not too fancy inside, but if your in the mood for some solid american bbq, this is it.
La Petite Abeille -- review
i went to the 20th street petite abeille this morning for brunch with my gf --- it was great!! i was impressed with the quality and the value. its buzzing inside, and quiant the food itself was really good. i had benedict and it was prob the best benedict ive ever had.
