famished and in need of new takeout place (LES)
How about this: I will exchange my (tired) takeout places on the LES for yours. Here are my regulars:
Thai On Clinton
Clinton St. Baking Co.
Max (italian)
Mercadito (tapas)
Piada (pressed sandwiches)
Tiny's Giant Sandwich Shop (big sandwiches and salads)
Others? Delivery a PLUS.
Best LES Brunches?
I've been in the LES forever, and have tried most of the good brunch spots between 10th and Delancey and Bowery and B, but I feel like I'm slipping into a brunch glut. Clinton St. Baking Co. is great, but always a zoo; Freeman's is fun, and delicious, but sometimes too specialized for my liking; EU is overpriced, the food occasionally a bit too delicate; 7A is a staple, of course; Habana has been in steady decline over the past 3 years; Alias is overrated, and the Bagel Zone doesn't really qualify as a brunch spot.
Any recommendations to help get me out of my glut?
tips for scoring a reservation @ per se?
Hi there - I am (naturally) desperately in need a dinner reservation for two at Per Se on March 20. I'd been calling regularly over the past month to get it, but it seems like that day was booked well in advance of the two-month window. Did I miss something? Am I missing something? Do I need some underground codeword?
Thanks!
(Incidentally, if anyone reading this happens to have reservations that day and is willing to part with them, drop me a line and I will outright compensate you for them.)
the east village rut.
you may like chubo, on clinton. i also don't see mercadito on that list - great little spanish spot on B and I believe 12th.
How is 7A?
Frankly, it's one of the best, if not the best spot in the area. It is just barely accessible now (the brunch hoards have descended upon it in ever-growing numbers), so I hope it doesn't get too popular for its own (and my :) good.
Review: Davidburke & Donatella
Excellent review. I would love to check out a similar spot, so if anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear 'em!
