If it's Central Market in Shoreline you're talking about, they do in fact sell Schwepps Tonic water -- by the large bottle and six pack of small bottles. I tried to get some this past weekend and was told they got shorted on their shipment this weekend and were out until the next truck comes in Tuesday. Scored a six pack at Freddy's instead (Fred Meyer on 185th & Aurora).

Seattle Business District Lunch

Marion Court on 3rd & Marion is a block or so away. There is a center courtyard for outdoor lunch seating and lots of good choices including an excellent sushi place, a decent Thai fast food place, and Zum Zum Cafe, a favorite of mine, featuring Pakistani veggie and meat curries at very inexpensive prices.

Downtown Seattle for lunch?

Glad you enjoyed it, Billy Bob. I think the curries there are very tasty and highly chow-worthy.

Pike Place Market - Best Spot for Breakfast?

Mr. Nelso, some things are better left hidden.

Downtown Seattle for lunch?

You can't get more UNIQUE, casual, and moderately priced than Zum Zum Café at 3rd and Marion for lunch. Featuring Pakistani curries in chicken, lamb, and assorted veggies. Daily special for $3.99 + tax (yes!) includes a fountain drink. Very tasty and often a line, but it moves right along. Limited seating inside but on a nice day sit outside in the courtyard.

Dinner near the Arctic Club hotel

The Vietnamese restaurants recommended are terrific.

For a nice selection of Pacific Northwest seafood, I'd recommend the Brooklyn:

Another option for seafood is McCormick's Fish House & Bar:

http://www.mccormickandschmicks.com/

Both are a walkable distance from your hotel and both feature fresh seafood.

stumptown vs cafe vita

Stumptown is served in a French press at Matt's in the Market as their house coffee. Absolutely delicious!

Lunchbox Laboratory Revisited

As usual, Lauren, you have a good point. If LL's are frozen and commercial, they sure don't taste like it. However, I'm somewhat in agreement with what some folks here have said about the beef. I just don't think the quality and/or freshness is that high. The condiments and add-ons make it work somehow, but it's not the ultimate, IMHO.

Best Rueben?

My favorite Reuben is from Three Girls Bakery in the Pike Place Market, across from Jack's Fish Spot. They use their own lean pastrami, build it with light or dark rye toasted to perfection on their sandwich press, with sauerkraut, swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing. Very generous portion of meat!

Seattle Best Breakfast

We used to go to the Salmon Bay Cafe religiously some years ago, but heard it had changed hands and no longer served those delicious omelets and breakfasts. Has it returned to its previous state of deliciousness? I'm thinking of the crab and shrimp omelet of the old days and excellent hash browns.

SEA - MOD Super Fast Pizza

The first time I passed this recently opened pizza emporium at One Union Square (6th & University) there was a line out the door. The second time, I was part of the line in my never-ending quest for a good lunch place. MOD stands for Made On Demand and they are quite speedy about it. You order your pizza and they put the ingredients on a partially baked crust (very thin, almost cracker-like), slap it in the oven and in about 5 minutes they magically call your name. The pizzas are all personal sized, I'd say about 10 inches but I'm just guessing.

The big thing is that you get your choice of ingredients, all for the same price: $5.54 (don't ask me why the 54 cent price point). They have 10 pre-named combinations, or you can just build your own from about 24 ingredients. A few extras are available: a standard salad of greens and roasted red peppers with sweet balsamic dressing for $3.54, a deluxe pizza salad for $5.54, and their own bread with fresh rosemary and red sauce for $2.54. Drinks include soft drinks, beer, and wine, along with hand spun milk shakes.

I had the mad dog #2 pizza that comes with their signature red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, italian sausage, and crumbled meatballs. It was very tasty and just right for my healthy appetite. They have a call-in number and encourage take-out orders. And yes, there's usually a line but it moves pretty fast.

Highly recommended!

Good eats Shoreline, North Seattle?

Here's another thought: since you're stopping at Central Market, check out their new deli and prepared food section. It's huge with lots of ready to eat or heat exotic fare, even Indian and Asian.

Good eats Shoreline, North Seattle?

If you like Mexican, you should try El Sabor, next to McDonalds near 155th. They have excellent food to eat in or take out with super prices.

A burger worth noting

My wife and I have this battle constantly. To her, sharing is if she doesn't take more than half. To me, there is no sharing...it's all stealing and frowned upon. :-)

Posole, and other GREAT Mexician in and around Seattle or Bellingham??

El Sabor on 155th & Aurora qualifies as a hole in the wall with seating and they make a delicious posole, but on weekends only.

Downtown Seattle Recommendations, with CONDITIONS!

Fish & Chips: Nordstrom Grill has a tempura-like battered halibut that is incredible. Very generous serving with really good shoestring fries for about $15.

Bulk Candy in Seattle or Portland areas

There's a place on the top floor (food court floor) of Westlake Mall downtown that has bulk candy of many varieties and I've noticed bulk M&Ms specifically. It's right near the monorail boarding area.
