I love to go home to see my parents in the summer when the garden is full. My favorite meal there is crispy fried chicken with creamed potatoes, pink-eyed purple hull peas, field corn, fried okra or squash, sliced tomatoes, and cornbread (without sugar). All of the veggies MUST be fresh out of Daddy's garden. That is all topped off with one of Mother's homemade carmel cakes or Aunt Rubye's crusty pound cakes with fresh peaches and homemade ice cream. I can only stand to have that meal a couple of times each summer.
