Pioneer Valley: Thinking outside the box

How about the Smithsonian in Hatfield on Rt 5?
www.smithsonianchowderhouse.com/

A good place for lunch near Olde Sturbridge Village but not inside the resoration itself.

BT's for BBQ
Thai House for asian
Enrico's for Brick oven pizza

Not sure how they compare to other Cracker Barrel's, but the one in Sturbridge is definitely subpar and pretty much any other restaurant in the area is a better option IMO....

B.T. Smokehouse Southern Barbecue: The Real Deal in Sturbridge

...and they JUST started selling these again today, get 'em while you can!

Less common seasonal produce - Worcester area

Being in Shrewsbury, you can also check out the many Indian Grocers scattered around Westborough, although you won't find the same amount or variety of produce based on the ones I have been to.

Less common seasonal produce - Worcester area

I second Mekong Market, it's the one I frequent the most.....

You also might try the various Asian markets around Worcester....

Red Pepper comes to Worcester

I've now been there twice and I find it every bit as good as the Sichuan stuff in Framingham! This makes me so happy, as I have been stuck with the lame Chinese offerings in Worcester ever since changing jobs 2 years ago but no longer...already thinking of my next trip there, I can't get enough of that Kung Bao Chicken!

Red Pepper comes to Worcester

Oh god yes! I am so there, how did I miss this? Happy day!

Worcester updates

Haven't checked it out yet but will make it a point now:

Worcester updates

+1 for Sichuan Gourmet, Worcester and the surrounding area is a wasteland when it comes to decent Chinese food....

Worcester Area - Butcher recommendations

We are west of Worcester so we use Stearns for our butcher needs, and they have the best sausage that I have found in Central Mass to boot!

Worcester updates

Charlie's Diner has moved to Spencer, about 15 minutes west of Worcester and right off of Rt 9. They still have the original diner for breakfast and lunch, but they added an attached building for additional seating with a bar and also serve some pretty damn good dinners there most nights. I always found them to be pretty standard diner-fare but with the addition they have made their menu much more interesting with some really good eats!

Good Eats in Auburn - I-290/MA Pike Interchange area?

Of course if you are craving BBQ, then I agree with the others: you gotta try BT's Smokehouse, worth the drive!

Good Eats in Auburn - I-290/MA Pike Interchange area?

You should try Uncle Jay's Twisted Fork, less than 10 minutes from downtown Auburn. It's a small little bistro with a crazy chef who makes some killer foods, plus he does his best to buy local whenever possible:

And if you're up for a challenge, there is even a 24-egg omelet with over 2 lbs of meat for $24.95...unless you can finish it in an hour by yourself and then it's free:

IDEA: Add a location option when posting to the location boards

Easiest? Yes. Likely to happen most of the time? No....

IDEA: Add a location option when posting to the location boards

Love the site and what Chowhound brings to foodies like me looking to eat well. One of my annoyances with the site is having to use a regional board (Northern New England) but not knowing which posts are local to me without opening them. I would love if there was an option to either add the specific location or even a drop-down for the regions within a region (like Central Mass, Western Mass, Central Conn, etc). Even better would be this PLUS the ability to specify the sub-region within the Board I frequent....

But I'll keep coming back, too much good food out there to try and this is still the best way to find out where it's hiding..... ;-)

Worcester updates

I've been hitting Oli's Eatery in West Boylston (just over the Worcester line) for lunch a lot lately. Great Italian food at a decent price, and I can't get enough of their Chicken and Tortellini dish with the tomato-cream sauce!

Place to Eat between Boston and Amherst?

Wow, way too many options to even begin. How about an idea of how long you are thinking of driving away from the airport before you need to stop, which would narrow it down to a location. And what route are you taking to Amherst? Mass Pike to Rt 93 or the slow rolling hills of Route 9 most of the way?

B.T. Smokehouse Southern Barbecue: The Real Deal in Sturbridge

So good, and one of their current specials is a Soft-Shell Crab BLT, which is unbelievably good and totally unexpected for a BBQ place. I had one last Friday and I'm trying to figure out when I can get back for another before they stop selling them.....

Suggestions for best Chinese food in Southern New England?

Sichuan Gourmet has literally ruined Chinese food for me in Massachusetts, I used to work in the area but changed jobs a couple of years ago so now I salivate thinking of how good it was...and how everything else in the area isn't.....

Five Loaves in Spencer -- outrageous value

Spencer, Massachusetts...it's 10 minutes west of Worcester down Route 9 and 10 minutes north of Sturbridge....

brunch in Sturbridge.

Spencer Country Inn on Route 9 does a pretty decent Sunday brunch, although I haven't been there in years. From what I remember, it was much lower in price than others around ($10 or so) but was also smaller in scale. If they still do it, I would highly recommend checking it out and letting everyone know your thoughts on it.....

Vietnamese in Worcester??

That would be Saigon Restaurant....

Best Lunch in Worcester, Tomorrow/Sunday?

Not in Worcester but only 90 seconds over the line is Oli's Eatery in West Boylston on Rt 12 (www.oliseatery.com). They ARE open on Sundays and are Italian-oriented, lots of great pasta options and far more interesting than the standard Italian restaurant IMO. I go there frequently for lunch because it's close to work, but more importantly because the lunch prices are decent ($7.99-8.99) with large portions and great tasting dishes.

Vietnamese in Worcester??

I JUST saw this about Vietnam Cafe this afternoon (on Yelp) and I have marked it for lunch in the next couple of weeks, word is that they have Banh Mi sandwiches with egg on them...works for me!

Vietnamese in Worcester??

Pho Dakao is also a good one on Park Ave, fancier than Anh Thu but not much different in the food from my experiences. There is also an Asian market on Main Street by Clark that sells Banh Mi to go, but I haven't been there in a while so I can't promise they still do.

Good food in Worcester with a TV

The Dive Bar is on Green Street and is owned by the people who opened Armsby Abbey (Dive Bar came first). Dive Bar is known for it's high-end beer selection, probably the furthest thing from a 'sports bar' that this city has to offer:
http://thedivebarworcester.com/

Bucks roadside BBQ auburn

Sounds like the place is struggling and the owner may have closed to work doing something else until the warmer weather returns.....

Tatnuck Grille

Any update?
