Langers Deli #19 for breakfast ?
The answer is yes.
I routinely opt to go to Langer's when they open and always get a pastrami sandwich. As it turns out, quite a number of other diners do the same thing.
Any good Mexican food in Silver Lake?
To me, Mixto is a mini version of Alegria which I detest. Sadly, it's Mexican "health food" which means bland, boring and very inauthentic. The grass fed beef is nice but ...
I got a torta the second day it was open. It was a plain telera roll with beef. Period. Nothing else on it. Then I found out you have to pay 50 cents for each item. Cilantro, 50 cents, crema, 50 cents, cheese 50 cents, onion, 50 cents and on and on.. by them your already pricy torta is expensive.
Brown rice, whole wheat tortillas is the order of the day.
Any good Mexican food in Silver Lake?
I have always thought of Alegria as being one of the worst Mexican places in LA.
Having said that, I lived in Silverlake for over 24 years until months ago. The only Mexican spot that was great disappeared over 20 years ago. There is no outstanding Mexican food in Silverlake although I do frequent Tacos Delta for 2 or 3 items.
Big Mama's and Papa's (Khachapouri)
BTW it's also on the menu at a relatively new Georgian restaurant that gets consistantly good reviews. And there two versions, an Abkanasian and Osetinian.

CAFE (B)RAVO on Hyperion?
Actually, I called the original Cafe Bravo in Glendale and they claim that the Silverlake Cafe Ravo is theirs. The "B" was knocked off weeks ago.
Then I called Cafe Ravo and asked if they were still Cafe Bravo. They said "yes" but they had a break with a business partner. This leads me to think they had to change the name even if everyone claims that it is the same.
With the upheaval, I decided to go to the original Cafe Bravo in Glendale and found it was far superior to the Hyperion location.
Solo dining options in downtown LA
Interesting. I didn't know it had closed. I have had many great dining experiences there.
Was it closed for remodel or to re-tool the menu? Or both?
preserved lemon
They have them at the Silverlake Cheese Store. Oh, and also at the World Market.
There is also a short cut recipe you can make at home. [Google]
Tea House in Chinatown
Ten Ren might fit the bill. It depends on what you expect.
But LA does not have the likes [or quality] of the venerable Imperial Tea Court of San Francisco.
Where can I find Graber Olives?
Only cans yet I have never had a problem with the taste. They apparently also sell a line of Spanish olives in jars, but the locally grown Grabers are the jewels.
The olive catalog:

Where can I find Graber Olives?
In my case, the Silverlake store.
For those who have not been, Graber Olives is a local business. The homey tour is recommended.
Anyone foraging or interested in foraging in the LA area? + Wild Fennel in So Cal
Thank you. I'll call today.
Best Philly (style) Cheese Steak in LA?
Over in NELA there is a place called Boos Philly Steak.
I have yet to try it.

Anyone foraging or interested in foraging in the LA area? + Wild Fennel in So Cal
I would love for someone to come forage the hundreds of oranges on my tree.
I'm a new homeowner in Atwater Village and my tree is just burst with fruit!
Santa Monica Seafood
My experience with Santa Monica Seafood extends way back to my childhood. In my adulthood I could count on them for a decent choice of great fish.
When the cafe opened and the location changed, it went far, far downhill. It was like I was going into a "B" grade local market. It is simply not worth a trip out of the way, especially not the usual 15 miles.
In a perfect world, SMS would rethink their business model and restore a world class city seafood market. Otherwise, an ignominious end.
Any LA-area Swedish Restaurants?
Sadly, no, so I started making it from scratch.
I long for a Swedish bakery.
Short Order, Long Price
More expensive dishes at the Farmer's Market include those at Mr Marcel, one of my FM favorites. They actually have a more expensive version of the Silverton burger at $14.95 although it includes MM's skinny frites which I like. Quoting their menu:

nancy silverton’s famous hamburger blend from Farmers Market Huntington Meat, sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onions, lettuce and tomatoes served with french fries and condiments
Your choice of cheese : roquefort, brie, gruyère de comté or st loup goat cheese

The most expensive item that serves one on Mr Marcel's menu is Filet Mignon with the frites at $25.99.
LaBrea Bakery frozen take & Bake
Not sure if this helps but La Brea Bakery rolls are in the freezer section at Gelson's. Saw them a few hours ago.
Simple things you can't get right
Hard boiled eggs.
I could do them for about 10 years, then bupkis. It's infuriating as I love egg salad and deviled eggs. I can't even get them right in a hard boiled egg machine!
Looking for source for Black Bottle Whisky
Don't know where you are located geographically but ...
I have bought obscure artisan brands of bourbon from Red Carpet Liquor on Glenoaks in Glendale. I had to special order, arrival was fast and prices in line.
Short Order, Long Price
I am still waiting before I check it out but ...
I rarely hear people complain about Golden States prices just up the street on Fairfax. Golden State is $11.00 for the burger, $3.00 for sides. Short Order are from $11.00 to $13.00 with $4.00 sides.
For myself, given the reviews, I think I will want to maximize my experience and eat on site [not to-go] and eat upstairs partaking of the bar offerings, extended menu, enhanced service and improved ambiance which I think will even it out.
Where to find authentic Spanish chorizo?
And "Spain" restaurant just north of Echo Park.
looking for canele or canelle in LA
The last time I checked, they were offered at LAMill.
