DFW -- Best Breakfast Burrito
Glad you liked La victoria, pschweizer, and Vickie is definitely super-nice!
dallasfood.org
Yep, here's a story from Pegasus News that gives more details about what happened. Apparently, it was the victime of a spam attach: http://www.pegasusnews.com/news/2009/aug/18/dallasfoodorg-forums-are-running-again-after-horri/
DFW -- Best Breakfast Burrito
Thanks for the rec, Loreck, I'll try to check this place out!
DFW -- Best Breakfast Burrito
Thanks for the tip, Franklyn. I'll have to check Gonzalez out!
DFW -- Best Breakfast Burrito
I nominate La Victoria on N. Haskell and San Jacinto, just south of Ross Ave. A fully loaded burrito with potatoes, egg and chorizo and a side of tasty salsa cost $3 and was plenty filling. Anyone care to second the nomination or put forth their own nominee?

DallasFood.org appears to have been the victim of a spammer attack and the forums currently are down. Anyone know what happened and when it will be back up?
Dallas Observer's 10 most overrated Dallas restaurants
Thanks. Turns out I just couldn't see the links for the tab nos. above the photos. Not sure why the font color was so faint!
Dallas Observer's 10 most overrated Dallas restaurants
I still can't access the list. I know it says they fixed it, but it still ain't workin for me! Can someone post the list or a link that works? Muchas gracias!
Dim Sum in Dallas?
I've also had soup dumplings at Jeng Chi in Richardson. The food is cheap and the servings are plentiful. I highly recommend it.
DFW - Frog Legs
You should also call Watel's Allen Street Cottage in Uptown and see if they can do frog legs. Their online menu states that if they don't list something on the menu, but they have the ingredients, they'll make a dish on request: http://www.watels.com/
Kids discounts in DFW?
My kid isn't old enough to order off the kids menu so I haven't been paying attention to the discounts but I can think of plenty of places that are kid friendly which might have discounts if that's any help.
Cibus at NorthPark Mall
It closed on Jan. 1: http://www.pegasusnews.com/news/2009/jan/01/pescobar-west-village-dallas-closed/
D Magazine's Top 10 Restaurants in Dallas???
Thanks again. There's no way I can match the breadth of your recommendations in the area, but if you ever find yourself in Baltimore, I can give you some good recommendations since I'm up there visiting my in-laws all of the time.
D Magazine's Top 10 Restaurants in Dallas???
LewisvilleHounder,
Thank you for one of the most impressive and comprehensive lists of fav Dallas area restaurants I've seen. I agree completely with all of your recommended places that I've been to, and I look forward to trying the many other places on your list that I haven't made it to yet.
Dallas: Tei An Open?
Just to update, I was at One Arts Plaza last week and a sign on the door at Tei An said it will open for lunch beginning Sept. 26.
[DFW] Best Taquerias?
Near downtown, check out Fuel City on Industrial near the I-35/I-30 interchange. There's no seating, you just order from a window and eat in your car. All of the tacos are great, but the picadillo tacos are my favorite.
Dallas: Tei An Open?
Thanks, gavlist, I was on vacation and haven't checked this thread in a while. I'm excited to finally be able to check this place out! Hopefully, it won't be long before they open for lunch since that will be my best bet to give them a try.
[Dallas] If You Love Crepes
Another good place to get your crepe fix near downtown Dallas is Creperie du Chateau. It's in an office building on McKinney across from the Crescent. The crepes are Sarrasin-style, that is they're made with wheat flour, so they may be different from the crepes you remember from Magic Pan, but they're quite tasty and reasonably priced considering one savory crepes could easily feed two people.
Dallas: Tei An Open?
Oaky, here's another update. I just called the phone number listed above by Diego Milagro (214-220-2828), and the lady I spoke to said that they will be open in another 3-4 weeks. I gave her my name and number, and she said she'll call me when she knows the exact open date. I'm sure anyone else who's interested can call and leave your name and number as well.
Greasy Spoon - Dallas/Ft. Worth
Another good place is Mama's Daughter's Diner. There are three locations, but I've only tried the one on Irving Blvd: http://www.pegasusnews.com/places/mamas-daughters-diner/
Dallas: Tei An Open?
Thanks for the info you posted here and on Eats Blog re: Tei An, Shannon. Since it's now getting into late May and Screen Door just had its soft opening, any update on when Tei An is supposed to open? I tried the phone number Diego listed above and it went to an unnamed voicemail.
[DFW] Best Pecan Pie?
Hmm, can't think of a good pecan pie rec right now, but the two Treebirds (used to be called Treebeards) locations downtown serve buttermilk chess squares that are delicious!
Baltimore - Place for Birthday Dinner
Thanks to all of you for your suggestions! The Prime Rib may be a little too fancy but it's always good to have plenty of options to choose from.
Baltimore - Place for Birthday Dinner
Thanks Whitemarshjohn! Do have any suggestions for places in the Towson/Dulaney Valley area or any places that aren't strictly "red sauce" Italian (doesn't have to be a steak place either)? Our group ranges in age from 30's to 60's (plus some kids) so we're trying to find several good options before we decide. Thanks again!
Baltimore - Place for Birthday Dinner
I'm from Dallas and my wife and I are going to be in Baltimore to celebrate a birthday in the next few weeks. I was wondering where would be a good place to go for the birthday dinner on a Sunday. My wife (who grew up in Baltimore) wanted to book Boccacio, but they aren't open on Sunday. Can anyone recommend a good (but not too fancy) place for about ten people? We're looking for an Italian place or a steakhouse. Also, places in Towson or Delaney Valley in addition to downtown/Little Italy and if anyone knows of a place with a price fixe menu, that would also be appreciated, too. Thanks a lot in advance!
