Best Takeout for a Friday Night?
Need to pick up dinner somewhere between Beverly Hills and Northeast LA. Where would you stop for reasonably priced takeout? Thai town? K-Town? Elsewhere? What would you order? Just looking for a bit of inspiration here. Thanks!
Taco Spots with Unique Specialties?
Thanks for the reply. I haven't really been blown away by Cacao in the past, but maybe it's worth another visit.
Taco Spots with Unique Specialties?
I'm looking for some suggestions for eateries that specialize in, or at least have a particularly good iteration of, a particular taco/or quick snack. For example, the Arabes truck on Olympic in EastLos, Mariscos D.F. in Highland Park for the cocteles and tostadas, El Pariente in Highland Park for its Birria, or Flaming Taco in Echo Park for its Pastor. Can anyone offer me superior spots to those I've named above? What about a spot with tacos de canasta, potato tacos, quesadillas with huitlacoche/flor de calabasa, or cemitas? Maybe others that I'm not even thinking of? Ideally these spots would be in the general area between East LA and Highland Park. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Naam Prik in Thaitown?
Anyone have a recommendation for a Thai spot around Hollywood that serves Naam Prik? (The spicy sauce you dip sticky rice into.) Thanks - CR
Taco Truck Crawl Suggestions
I'm planning a taco crawl with some friends this weekend. The rough itinerary is to go from East LA, to Highland Park/Eagle Rock, and to end in Echo Park:
Tacos El Korita
La que si llena
La Estrella/El Pique
Rambo's/Leo's
and the Churro truck in Echo Park
My questions are these: 1. Where is the vaunted Tacos Arabes truck I've heard so much about? (Maybe on Whittier or Olympic?) and 2. What suggestions would you have to add to the itinerary (within the rough geographic boundaries above). Thanks for the suggestions.
Potato Tacos, who has the best?
The taco stand in frot of Verdugo Bagels in Eagle Rock/Glassell Park has great potato tacos. I reviewed it, as well as my top 10 NELA street vendors at www.yorkblvd.com
Coffee Shops 90042
I agree with an earlier poster. Bring your own tea to Casa Blue which is an amazing space. Keep the money in the neighborhood! I've reviewed some of the local coffee shops at www.yorkblvd.com Check them out.
Highland Park - Mexican
The best sit down Mexican in the neighborhood is El Arco Iris on York. Still, the best Mexican food is at the taco trucks and taco stands. See my top 10 list of NELA street vendors at www.yorkblvd.com
Highland Park Recs?
The York on York is a great gastropub. El Arco Iris is nice sit down Mexican. Casa Blue and Antigua Bread offer nice cafe enviornments. I've written reviews for many of these places in more detail on www.yorkblvd.com Specifically, you should check out the article on top 10 street vendors in NELA.
