Do You Serve Shrimp With Tail Shells On?

Rarely, but I usually cook them with shells on for the flavor. If I serve tails-on for serving reasons (cold app), the doggies get all leftover tail bits. Actually, I even take the shells and make a weak stock out of them, pour it over the doggies' dinner, and then dry out the used shells in the toaster oven for crunchy treats for the doggies. (Seeing a pattern here?)

Homemade plain yogurt (from a starter originally from Fage a couple years ago) with local blueberries and peaches and a little granola for texture.

Who taught you to cook?

My mother was a horrible cook (canned spaghetti in orange sauce, e.g.), so I didn't learn from her. When I was 23, I dated a Lebanese Christian guy, so the first cuisine this Polish-American girl learned to cook was Middle Eastern.

What did you have for lunch today Part 3

Toasted everything bagel with spread made of canned salmon, whipped cream cheese, sliced red onions, and capers. If I hadn't had to pilot a plane today, I would also have had dark beer!

Do Americans Go Out for Pizza Anymore?

In Manhattan, Two Boots Pizza in Grand Central Station's food concourse (which location I consider a public service). Esp. for the "Bayou Beast"--shrimp, crawfish, andouille. I cannot make anything similar at home! And, there's a great old-style bartender who makes a mean Jack Daniels Manhattan.

Popular flavors that you don't care for

Pineapple. Obviously, I'm not very popular with the drinks-with-umbrellas crowd. (In the summer, I'll serve only sangria, beer, and vodka or gin tonics.)

The restaurant finally opened on Aug. 4, and the Bobby Flay show ("3 Days to Open") about it was on Food Network on Friday, Aug. 17.
