They don't top up the bag with fries, but actually give you a paper bag full of fries, separate from your burger(s). |

I've eaten at Clive twice & love it. Watch out for the fries to go, because that bag will feed 3 people. I think they might even pour in more fries than Five Guys. |

I was at the Calgary Eats! event at Olympic Plaza on Canada Day. Some of the vendors were out of food by the time we arrived (4:30-ish), and we ended up eating at Carne (by Teatro), which was set up not in a truck, but in one of the kiosks in the plaza. I had a porchetta and apple sandwich, and my wife had the mac & cheese. We also split a bacon slaw. It was delicious. It reminded me of the lunch menu at Charcut, but cheaper and with bigger portions. For dessert we hit Fiasco. Does anyone know if Carne is going to be permanent, at least for the season? If I still worked downtown I would check it out again. Tasty and great value. |

Fergus & Bix - Marda Loop - YYC Agreed that the food is pretty good. I ordered the chicken & broccoli tortellini half-expecting it to be a reheated Sysco mess, but it was actually quite good. My only complaints are the noise, and the small (16 oz) pints. |

Anyone tried Gaga Pizzeria? |

Help with Han's Replacement-YYC Yes, Delicious Country is good. There's a third place inside the mall, Guilin Noodle House. I've only gone there once, but it wasn't bad either. Too bad about MBA! I'll give Great Taste a shot soon. |

new thread for inglewood in Calgary I think Inglewood Pizza is just take-out. Rouge and The Deane House are both close to 9th Avenue. Also, there's the Inglewood Drive In, which used to be not great, but now has new owners and good reviews. (I haven't been there recently) |

I actually haven't been to either yet. I wanted to try the one at CrossIron but wasn't interested in a 30 minute drive for a burger. I haven't read anything encouraging here on Chowhound, but I did read a magazine article praising one of the Toronto locations. |

I had to look up the address: 11838 Sarcee Trail NW. For those of us in the south, it's not much closer than the one in Crossiron Mills. :) |

Apparently it opened on April 7th. They've been on twitter for almost a year, though, and had a table at last year's Lilac Festival. |

I'm not sure if Koob (4th St, next door to Fat City Franks) is a brand new place, but I hadn't seen it open before today. They serve kabobs on pita, salads, and dips like hummus and baba ghannouj. Toppings like salsa and chipotle mayo set it apart from typical shawarma places. I had a chicken kabob. The meat was thin and uniform, like the frozen kabobs at a place like Pita Pit. Personally I would have preferred chicken carved from a doner spit. Also, the sandwich was small. It was OK but I won't rush back there. |

I just checked their website, and you can buy direct from Fratello. (Roasted here in Calgary) |

Intelligentsia, sold at Cafe DeVille, uses roast dates. They also sell 1/2 pound bags. |

Cross canada adventure-first stop Saskatoon I can understand the appeal of Aroma, in that it's better than the average pub restaurant. Definitely not the best of Saskatoon, though, IMO. |

Cross canada adventure-first stop Saskatoon Christie's Il Secondo Bakery on Broadway has great bread, sandwiches and pizza. |

Where can I find canned Alaskan smoked salmon in Calgary? Canned smoked salmon and frozen raw salmon are entirely different! |
|
|
I haven't had the Bles-Wold Greek yogurt, but their regular single-serving plain yogurt is pretty bad. It's thin and has way, way too much sugar. You might as well get Yoplait. I prefer Astro. |

Favourite picnic treats in YYC Red Tree Kitchen toes take-home meals that are mostly great (sometimes mediocre). They have a Valentine's day special with dessert. Forage also does some great take-home meals, and use local ingredients. It's always good, but be warned: this is hearty prairie food! Lots of meat, root vegetables, etc. and big portions. |
|
|
If that's the case I think they're upsizing your fries and drink to medium or large. |
|
|
Single bacon deluxe combo (with "small" fries and drink which really aren't small) is less than $8. |

We had a reception for about 50 (cocktails and cake, but no hors d'oeuvres) at River Cafe a few years ago. We only had a section of the restaurant, near the fireplace, but it was perfect. |

Torontonian visiting Calgary....reccomendations, please? Local 522/510/000 have a good burger as well. It's not big (unless you get a double or triple), and kind of pricey, but so much better than the usual pub burger. |

I remember the laura secord lollipops being light yellow-brown and kind of chemical-y back in the mid-80s. I still loved them, though. |

Help tomorrow Galette des Rois!! I can't really help, but I think some places will call this a "Twelfth Night Cake". |

Suggestions for outing with vegetarian? If you're open to more cheese-based suggestions: ----- The Living Room |

You are correct, I got the name mixed up. I meant Le Germain, not St. Germain. |
|
|
St. Germain I'm guessing? |

Good Coffee Beans? - Downtown Core YYC Heh. You can *buy*, I mean. |
|
|
Good Coffee Beans? - Downtown Core YYC You can Intelligentsia beans (packed into vacuum-sealed bags, with a roast date) at Deville, 7th Ave and Centre St. SW, second floor. |

Blair's Death Rain chips in Saskatoon? I saw them in Calgary at Kalamata a few years ago. |
