Wedding cake in Philadelphia?

Not quite in Philadelphia, but Aux Petites Delices in Wayne does a lovely job. They did our wedding cake and sweets table several years ago. http://www.auxpetits.com/

Zake's Cakes, Fort Washington/Flourtown

The food is very good, but the service is terrible. We went for dinner on Friday night and waited 25 minutes for our soup, then another 25 minutes after our dinner was complete for them to clear our plates, refill our water, etc. Meanwhile, three tables that arrived after us turned over.

Three waiters - 13 tables - there shouldn't have been a problem. As a former waiter myself, I know that everyone has off days, but we won't be back soon.

Looking For A Great Cocktail Bar... Are There Any?

Distrito in University City is a beautiful restaurant with a nice bar and good drinks. You might want to try some places along the Piazza in Northern Liberties - PYT, Bar Ferdinand, etc. They are less loungy, but there's usually live outdoor music and lots of boutique shops for a nice hipster vibe.

Lunch at Vietnam Restaurant today!

I'm kind of addicted to their iced coffee. I would order the unfried pork spring rolls and the fried tofu. YUM.

Best hummus in PHL?

I always make a point to stop by Armenian Delight in Broomall, although that may be a hike for you. It has the best hummus around, IMO. It's at the intersection of 320 and Rte. 3.

Fish and Chips (Mont.Co.)

Fatty's in Wyndmoor (Willow Grove Avenue) has excellent pub food, including fish and chips.

new, hip scene - good food and drink?

You could try Bar Ferdinand or Vino at The Piazza at Schmidts in Northern Liberties. It seems to be the home of 20-something hipsters with dogs.

Vino is very new, so it might be inconsistent, but Bar Ferdinand is always good and their sangria is tasty. The Piazza should have a crowd because there is frequently entertainment in the evenings - plus several blocks of outdoor cafes and shops to wander about. I always have fun when we go there.

Must haves at Morimoto?

Don't forget the pot de creme for dessert!

Scoogi's (Flourtown)

We stopped going to Scoogi's a few years ago when we realized the food and atmosphere wasn't worth the hour-long wait. Also had problems with small children being allowed to roam to our table repeatedly while the adults in their party looked on indulgently. Once or twice is fine - but this was above and beyond reasonable. Besides that, the food was sub par and service was slow and cranky.

Also, we have tried Roberto's a couple of times and found the food was just okay and our waiter seemed overwhelmed. The pasta is good, but the salads and appetizers are kind of cheesy (i.e. iceberg lettuce, a wedge of tomato, and dressing clearly coming from a gallon-sized industrial jar). On the plus side, the art is so campy that it is wonderful. I think some of the frames are wads of masking tap spraypainted silver. I get a kick out of it everytime I see it!

Good bakeries in the burbs?

I'm surprised there's no mention of Zake's Cakes in Fort Washington. It's on Bethlehem Pike, right near Marita's Cantina. They are a small restaurant that has a selection of beautiful and tasty french pastries. As a side note, their breakfast is surprisingly decadent. Particularly the pancakes with a homemade caramel dipping sauce.
