How adventurous are these kids? Are the Sushi and steak kids or hamburger and whatever they recognize kids?

Catfish Lewie's - well worth the drive!

Do you know of a place as good as this in the DC, MD area? I would love good Fish and Chips.

New mission: to find the best falafel in the Tri-State area. I have a new love for the month, you guessed it, FALAFEL. I have been to Max's this weekend and a place in Takoma Park called Middle Eastern Cuisine. They are first place right now..

It is a very friendly family owned and operated restaurant. I had dinner there on Friday with my 2 daughters and my Aunt. My oldest daughter had Spaghetti and Meatballs and my other daughter had Grilled Cheese and Fries. (She is SUCH a coward!!!!) As my Aunt says, do not go to a water fountain and expect juice.... These dishes were HORRIBLE!!! The cheese had a funny texture that my six year old almost regurgitated it and she LOVES cheese. The Spaghetti had very little sauce and it was extremely watery. But.... The meatballs were made out of Lamb and Beef and were AMAZING!!!!! My other daughter hated them and said they were too “grown up” tasting for her. (She is seven, go figure. LOL)

The Mediterranean food was GREAT. We had the Mezza Platter with; 3 types of Hummus, Stuffed Grape Leaves, Falafel Balls Cous, Cous Salad and Pita Bread. I didn't care for one of the Hummuses (I think it was the olive one.) Not because it wasn't good, just personal taste. The Falafel was terrific. We had to keep making sandwiches with the Hummus as spread, Falafel and salad. Yummm-EEE! Last, we shared a Combination Kabob, It was ok, but the tomato sauce was sparse again and flavorless.

All in all, a good experience. I talked to one of the owners because of the sandwich and the services took FOREVER!! He was soo eager to talk to us and make us happy, I was flattered. His daughter was our waitress and was as cute as a button. (Her attitude was amazing even when I got a little frustrated with the slow service.)

Make sure you go in the day or early evening, or it gets packed very fast, and do not order American food, but definitely try it out! I really enjoyed myself.

I took my step-daughter to Joe's Crabshack and she LOVED it. It isn't my favorite Sefood place but the atmosphere is a lot of fun.

Where is Max's and Pomeganite? I would love to try them. I am fortunate to work with a couple fellow Foodies and we go to different places all the time.

I had lunch with a co-worker today at Moti's Falafel Stand in Rockville. It was terrific! I must say that the service in the deli was very poor, we were not treated very friendly and it was not busy.

I had a taste of the shawarma meat (and I will have it next time), but for today I had the falafel in the pita with Hummus and items from the topping bar. Like Israeli salad and fried eggplant. As Rachael would say "Yum-O!" And I only spent $5.00 and some change!!

Oro Pomodoro - Rockville

I tried this place about 3 weeks ago with some co-workers and we did not have a great experience. The menus they gave us were old and had the wrong prices on them so when our bills came out to be higher and we questioned it, the waiters gave us a really hard time. The manager came over and gave us our food at the old menu price but was not nice about it. The wait staff is RUDE!! The whole time we stood at the bar to order to go, the bartender was no where to be found, after 10 MINUTES someone finally went to get her. Then when we showed her the menu price, she said "you can wit for the manager because I am not going to change it. Then she just walked away and kept her back to us. She didn't even get the manager!

MaybeI m a glutton for punishment but I figured that maybe it was just a fluke day, so I went again today for lunch to give the place a second chance. NEVER AGAIN!!!! The staff is incredibly rude!! I had to order to go, so I had to order from the bar again, but there was a guy bartender this time. He took my order (Vesuvio Panini) and then turned his back to me and read a magazine. Never asked if I needed a drink or so much as looked at me again. I smiled as the wait staff would walk past and not even one was friendly enough to smile back or speak. One waitress even gave me a dirty look! I then saw 2 carry out dishes brought to the bar. The Bartender walked over to them, put a ticket on them and went back to his magazine. 8 minutes later, he walked back over to the dishes, bagged them up and gave them to me after explaining that they didn't have 1 dish large enough and they had cut my sandwich in half to fit in two. (no big deal) then turned and walked away. The sandwich cost $9.50, and had one piece of Italian ham and one slice of tomatoe and so little lettuce, you can't see it. It was actually pretty good but not $10.00 good. I was so angry and frustrated, I sent emails all through my office fo no one to go there and warn everyone we know in the area. I hope they go under and a respectable resteraunt can get the location. (p.s. They gave me an old menu again! I showed the hostess to let her know the difference. lol this place is a joke)

The best authentic mexican

I love green chile and put it on everything Chubby's is not the only place in CO that will do that for me and even though it may not be traditional, I get those cravings sometimes. If I can get the option of a good greeen chile and chips I might even be happy at this point. lol. I love traditional mexican as well and I have just been very dissapointed at almost every place I've tried. I looked ot the menu for Oyamel and Guaillo and both look rather good.Oyamel looks a little more traditional, but I let you know after I try it.

The best authentic mexican

Thank you very much. with all the variety of food in DC, MD, and VA, this is the only dissapointment. No mexican, but I love Chipotle and I will try Guajillo. My daughters are still 6 & 7 but they love any kind of restaurant as long as there is chicken or such on the menu. They behave perfectly in pulic because of my addiction to trying new foods. (they have been going out with me ever since they were a couple weeks old) LOL. California Tortilla is ok but it is more trendy then authentic. Thanks again I cant wait to try it.

Ordering off the menu

You know, I have not heard of a restaurant doing this, but I have heard of some personal cooks who will come to your home and do it. This sounds interesting however kind of like a restaurant with a daily special. There is probably not a lot of demand for it since there is the idea of not knowing what you'll get.

The best authentic mexican

I am originally from Colorado and there is a little place called the Original Chubbys and I really loved it. Real small, friendly service and you can get food @ 3 am. Since I have been in DC, I have not found an authentic mexican restaurant. I'm looking for Chile Rellenos, Smothered burritos and really good green chile. Please help I'm desperate.

Good place for dinner

I have 2 youngsters 6 & 7. they do really well at CPK, Cheesecake factory and so forth, but it'd not really unique to DC. The Native American museum has excellent traditional native foods and my kids loved it. Where is Creme?

If you dont mind taking the metro another idea might be Union Station. They have a pretty large food court with restaraunts for any tastes. Like burrito brothers, B. Smiths and on and on.

Good place for dinner

I say Clydes by the verizon center is great. However if you want the DC experience another favorite and famous place to try is Ben's Chili Bowl. It's small and always crowded but the food is great. You get a taste of history. They have hot dogs, chili burgers and that sort of thing.
