Problems opening an All American Pressure Canner

I had the same problem just last night. I have the same type of canner.
I read the instructions again (for the umpteenth time) and apparently it has to do with the lubrication. Next time I'm going to use more petroleum jelly on the beveled area.
My husband did the same thing yours did, but this morning he unscrewed those tabs that lock in the lid and he said it came off easily.

Eggplant-Pepper Tomato Sauce

I was thinking it might be a good idea to cook the eggplant under the broiler, like when you make baba ghanoush, scoop it out then add it to the recipe, for that smoky flavor.
