Recent Marben, since the change of staff?
Went for dinner last night. We had at least half of the menu and all the dishes were very good. It seems they are dealing with the staffing changes well.
Toronto wedding venues advice
I really love the Academy as an event venue. The beverage (scotch) selection is amazing and some of the add-ons (like cigar rolling) are really fun for guests. That being said, the food is just ok. There is nothing great about it but it isn't bad either. IMO it is a bit of a trade off for a great space with unique features for just ok food.
Grand Electric
we got out name on the list just after 630 and we were seated before 730.
High end dinner for executives
Nooooo to Trevor. Really not even close to the experience you would have at George or Colborne Lane. :-)
Grand Electric
I've been there five times now because I think it is worth the wait. Even on a Sat night (two weekends ago) we only waited 45 mins for a four top.
High end dinner for executives
Completely in a different vain BUT what about approaching Star Fish to do an oyster and champagne tasting and then into a three course pre-fix, Not at all white table clothes but the back room there is lovely and the food is always good quality and for $200 pp you should get a very good meal.
I love George so if you're looking for something more traditional that would be my recommendation.
Where to take wife for 10th anniversary in Toronto
I rarely plan that far in advance. I miss the walkin spots at the bar.
Where to take wife for 10th anniversary in Toronto
Not really. Vancouver Montreal NYC London etc in any big city that would be considered mid range price point. Given that I never get out of a place like George or Splendido for less than $200 pp Woodlot is go mid range option.
Where to take wife for 10th anniversary in Toronto
Ici Bistro would fit the bill but getting a reservation is challenging.
Where to take wife for 10th anniversary in Toronto
Both are good places but a wee bit too old school for my liking.
Where to take wife for 10th anniversary in Toronto
I'm a huge George fan and forgot they have a veg tasting menu as well.
Grand Electric
I'm on side with you on this one. This place has quickly secured a place in my heart for one of my fav goto cheap and cheerful fun restos with good value for money food and drink. It doesn't hurt that they play great loud music and have a great bourbon selection.
Where to take wife for 10th anniversary in Toronto
Woodlot may be a good option as they have a full vegetarian menu and I think it can be a romantic space. It is mid price point at about $150 for two with some beverages.
Burger's Priest vs. Holy Chuck vs. Stockyards
Amazing! Best food story I've read in a long time. Well played OTFOODIE. Well played.
The Saint Tavern on Ossington
Dinner on Sat night with my bff and his dad. Overall a very good experience and I'm looking forward to my second visit sometime soon.
Our reso was at 630 p.m. and the space was about 2/3 full and was jammed but the time we left around 9. The room can get rather loud by the time it is at full capacity but it adds to the buzz of the space. We sat in the first circular booth and it was spacious for 3, would be prefect for four and could squeeze five in for sure.
The service for the whole evening was great. My water glass was never empty. I was asked about my beverage either just before or just after I finished. Crumbs were removed between courses. All the staff members were very knowledge and answered all of my questions in a enough detail to be meaningful but not over the top.
We started with a dozen oysters a mix of east and west coast varieties. They were fresh, well shucked with little grit and lots of liquor left in the shell and were served with a generous mount of fresh grated horseradish and house made minuet. Great start to the meal for sure.
We then shared the duck, bacon and fois sausage. My two dining companions really enjoyed it but for me it was overkill on the bacon flavour and the other items were a little lost in translation.
For mains two of us ordered the bone-in strip med rare and the third ordered the Berkshire pork chop. We shared gratin potatoes, roasted potatoes, asparagus, and mushrooms.
The steaks were cooked perfectly. They had great favour, a fair amount of fat and good solid grill char on the outside while being prefect med rare on the inside. The only downside for me was that they pre-sliced the steaks. Not my fav thing, but not a deal breaker either.
The pork was moist and tender and full of flavour sitting on top of a portion of apple sauce. More of a fall dish for me but very well done with a hit of med pink in the centre of the meat.
All of the sides were great. Perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and generous portions.
For dessert we shared the house made warm pecan pie with house made vanilla ice cream. Two words - EAT IT! So good. It was the prefect end to a great dinner.
Overall we had 10 drinks between the three of us and all of the above food and the bill before tip but including tax was $360. Not in the cheap category but IMO good value for money and an overall solid dining experience.
Rubino Brothers
The Rubinos are no longer part of Ame. It is fully in the hands of Charles/INK. It is a private event space now is my current understanding.
Reco for seafood DT TO - group of 12
I'm off to Pantheon tonight. I'm looking forward to shared seafood and meat platters! It should be a good feast as there are nice of us going!
Tap Phong..
I bought one at Nikilaou and it was good quality and under $50 with tax.
Joey's - Eaton Centre
Go for the drinks and company and consider the food a necessary evil! In these instance I eat as little as possible without drawing attention to it and then have a bowl of cereal when I get home.

You could try Starfish. They have a few non-seafood or fish items on the menu but the options are limited. There is also Rodney's which again will have a few non-seafood or fish items on the menu.
Toronto restaurant that is yummy and entertaining???
Please please please spare your friends the pain of eating at the Sultan's Tent. Terrible food.
Tabülè Middle Eastern Cuisine on Yonge north of Davisville has really good food at a decent price and belly dancing on Sat evening beginning at 9 p.m.
Brunch Suggestions To Impress New York Guests
OMG we used to LOVE Verveine brunch. I was so said when it fell apart. Barrio was a weak second resto for her and Fare, we is just fair at best.
Tap Phong..
I haven't seem any at Tap Phong but I know for sure they have them at Nikilaou on Queen just east of Bathrust on the south side.
Yukon at 1592 Queen West
That's TERRIBLE! Mezzorows has one of the best greasy breakfasts. Double bacon! Too bad the one waiter is a total a$$hole. :-)
Hip Toronto restaurant ideas needed - good food, service with terrace or outdoor space
No reservations but totally worth the wait for a hip location with good food - but if you don't like LOUD music this isn't the place for you. The patio will be insane this summer. When you get there get on the list, give them a mobile number and go have a drink at any number of places in the immediate area.
Analysis Paralysis - Help me choose a restaurant: Nota Bene, Acadia, Campagnolo, Frank's Kitchen? Other?
He said on his twitter he's off to nyc but didn't say for how long.
Restaurant for cocktail style wedding reception
Most places that are big enough for a group that size need to charge more for a buyout if it is a Friday or Saturday night. Some large places can make most of their income on one of those nights. At the price point and number of political you would do better at a space like the Richmond or something similar.

He's off to NYC for an undisclosed amount of time.
Need a foodie friendly "lux dive"
I don't think that's true. I've been twice with groups over four (six once and eight another time) and had no problems at all. As long as you're willing to wait, I don't think they care.
