Recomendations at Virgil's BBQ
I just was recommended a place called Les Halles on Park Ave. for its steak frites. I looked at the menu and it seems fine.
We will be very casually dressed about noon on a Monday. Does anyone know if this is a problem and also are the desserts available at that time-cause my kids expect dessert at a NYC lunch.
Is this a better choice?
For me, I see something intriguing called Planche De Grillades which is lamb chop, hanger steak, merguez, , bacon, steak, provencal dressing?
Reservations needed?

Recomendations at Virgil's BBQ
Well I'm stuck going there as we have a short layover at Port Authority and the kids want barbecue and Toys R Us.
We've been to Dallas BBQ and I think you can understand why we want something different...so Virgil's it is. I have seen the lamb recommended in other online reviews.
Recomendations at Virgil's BBQ
In addition to any general suggestions I would like any opinions, pro and con on the following- ribs, chicken, pork, lamb, brisket, ham, Texas link, trash ribs.
Thanks.
Yukon Jack
I got this as a Christmas Gift. I was told to drink it chilled on the rocks in a chilled glass.
How is this advice?
good low end liquor
Old Crow bourbon. $15 for a half gallon and decent enough in Manhattans. Indistinguishable from the good stuff in soda.
Ack - What to do with cheap whiskey?
Mix it with coke, 7 up or ginger ale in a nice tall highball glass on the rocks. Most people will think its Makers if you keep the mix 4-1 or so.
Virgil BBQ Dirty Ribs
I was there for the lamb but I noticed they have "Ribs" as an entree and also "Dirty Ribs" with no further explanation. Forgot to ask the server so I will ask here what the difference is. Google provides no answer to my question.
[Rhode Island] Any beef weiners at those 'system weiner' places?
You will either eat pork or you will eat something different than a NY System weiner.

Coal oven pizza near Penn Station
"But they are not old-school New York coal oven joints, which seems to be what you are looking for."
Yes, that's right. I am from Providence and we have NO shortage of good pizza. I am looking for coal-fired only.
Coal oven pizza near Penn Station
I have a 3 hour layover at Penn station and would like to get some good, sooty coal fired burnt crust pizza.
I have recomendations of Patsy's in East Harlem and John's on Bleecker.
Any comments on these or others are welcome.
Manhattan only please.
Keens English Cut Prime Rib
Is this just as good as the King Cut but smaller or do they screw you like Luger's where the "Steak For One" is decidedly inferior?
Need Cantonese Chinatown Lunch spot for Friday
Are you looking for spots in Chinatown?
Yes, we combine the stroll through Chinatown with Public Garden, Common, Downtown Crossing, etc.
Need Cantonese Chinatown Lunch spot for Friday
My parents are coming for annual visit. They loved Yan's Best Place at 52 Beach Street, which is now closed.
Can someone give me a couple of cheap, non dim-sum lunch places in Chinatown that have generous portions?
They eat basic Americanized Cantonese only (no flames please!). You know-pork fried rice, chicken wings, teriyaki, pork strips, etc. None of us are Chinese seafood fans so it is meat/rice we are interested in.
Thanks
