Asheville Anniversary
My husband and I will be celebrating our first wedding anniversary at the Grove Park Inn in April. I would really like to venture out into Asheville for dinner on one night and was hoping that there might be some recommendations out there! Nothing too stuffy and I am a vegetarian (pretty strict, but will eat some fish if there is no other option). I have done a little research on my own and I'm currently leaning towards Fig. Any thoughts?
What happened to Spice and Curry????
My coworkers and I had lunch today at what used to be our favorite Indian lunch spot at Spice and Curry in Durham. We were immediately suprised that the restaurant was nearly empty at noon and the back room that normally sat the overflow of customers from the main dining room was closed. The longer we stayed, the more changes were apparent. None of the friendly, familiar staff was there, the room was missing it's charm and ambiance...and then there was the food. The naan was cardboard, the soup was watery and dull, many dishes tasted soured and rancid. I could go on, but I'll just leave it at this: the food was bad. We overheard other customers talking about other Indian restaurants in the area and knew we were not alone in discussing a substitute! Upon leaving, with an upset stomach and a disproportionatly lighter wallet, we found out that they are under new ownership. Does anyone know what happened to the old owners? I know that they also own Udipi in Cary, but why would they sell such a busy, seemingly successful business? And allow their name and reputation to go with it!

Claudio's has been gone for over 2 years. Claude made excellent italian food! He is sorely missed. Save yourself and don't visit Vincent's, now occupying Claude's former space.
Grocery Store Fresh Turkeys in RDU
Does anyone have an opinion on which grocery store is best to order a fresh turkey from? I have Thanksgiving duties this year and right now my options are Harris Teeter, The Fresh Market or Whole Foods. Does anyone have any experience with fresh turkeys from these places or some other options that I might consider? Local farms perhaps?
