Grill Square in Mesa (Fiesta Mall)
i walked into the seemingly out of place Grill Square about 1 week ago, and was immediately impressed. The theme was more downtown Scottsdale to me, but was rather refreshing to experience in Mesa (i mean let's be real...Mesa isn't exactly the classiest of locations)!!
After seeing several of the other posts here, I was expecting a simple little single page menu with one or two options for each course. And my expectations were in fact...WRONG!! Our server informed me that the menu had just been finalized, and several items had been dropped, and a few added since their "soft-opening". I decided to start with a dish of calamari...and i liked it (calamari isn't very complex, but it had a unique flavor that i'll definitely try agian). for my entree i indulged in a nice "fish-of-the-day" dish of sake-marinaded grilled halibut (delicious)!!! and then had a very unique cheesecake with fresh strawberry topping served in a martini glass (this dish topped off the night)!
overall...i was very pleased. you can definitely tell that the chefs there take great pride in their product, which in today's corporate restaurant world was quite refreshing!!
in my professional opinion...Grill Square will be successful, and i'm really looking forward to their grand opening on Nov. 1, 2007!!
